So my inlaws have decided that we are going to Big Cedar Lodge instead of the beach this year. I have no clue why. However, it gives me a chance to play golf in a new place.

Does anyone have advice on where to play up there? The idea of playing with elevation change sounds exciting.

ETA: Well, we are finally going to take this trip. I'll be up there next week. I just booked a tee time at Buffalo Ridge for next Tuesday and pan to play Branson Hills a separate day. I'll post pics when I can.

ETA 2: I played Buffalo Ridge one day and Pointe Royale another. I didn't bother even taking pictures at Pointe Royale. I should've played the Ozarks National instead. I took pics at Top of The Rock, but it was closed to redo the greens ahead of a Champions Tour event in April.

It had snowed the week before, but it was still in great shape even thought it had browned up. Overall, it was a great trip, and I would go back.

I think you are talking about Branson, Missouri (MO) not Michigan (Mi)

Branson Hills used to be called Payne Stewart Golf Club. Good track

from what I hear, outstanding golf course(s). But, Ive never played there.

Top of the rock may be one of the most beautiful courses I have ever seen. Its unbelievable.

You'll enjoy it. Big Cedar has become a staple in my family's vacation rotation.

Buffalo Ridge
Top of the Rock (9 holes) $135?!

Have played both of these. Buffalo Ridge is nice and is a fun track. TOTR, while extremely nice and beautiful scenery, you will feel like $135 for 9 par 3s wasn't really worth it. Do go out there and spend some time on their practice facility though. It's impressive.

All of the Johnny Morris properties are first class. Whether or not you play TOTR, at least go up there to see it. Plan on having a meal at the restaurant overlooking the lake, and the golf cart cave tour thing is a really cool outing. Since I was there last, he opened a shooting center, so if you’re into sporting clays, etc, I’d bet that would be an awesome experience as well

Also I'm pretty sure Tiger Woods is building a course out there. I'm not sure when it will be done though

I've only ever played Thousand Hills, okay course. I'd play it again.

Probably the course with the most traffic in Branson. Likely because it's probably the cheapest. Course condition won't be like the others.

I'd tell you more but it has been several years since I've played there.

It's going to be called Payne's Valley and it will be ready fall of 2019.

Buffalo Ridge was a good test and a good time. Played two rounds out there and I think we saw one other group out there between the two days. Also played the par 3 course, Top of the Rock. Pricey, but had a blast.

We stay at Big Cedar every year, can't wait for the Wood's course to be done to add in the rotation.
