I've played it several times. Absolutely love the layout. One of my favorite places to play.

I’m going to make a trip up there this spring.

Cool layout, but greens are completely hot or miss. Also last time I played, which was months ago, the bunkers were ground under repair, but they had new sand in a couple of already. One other thing I would say is a lot of the sight lines off of the tees are weird so its easy to lose a ball just a couple of yards in the rough when it's long. All in all, though, it's a fun course to and worth what it costs to play.

I agree with Mingo. Awesome layout but hit or miss. Has been a little while since I played it but used to quite often.

Great course.

Heard they are filling in all or most of the bunkers this winter. Making them patches of deep rough.

Depends on the tees you play but not terribly long.

I've played there several times, mostly during their Sunday, end of month scrambles. Greens were always decent, but I don't recall playing there when bunkers weren't "under repair"

Me and my friends are actually scheduling our own version of Ryder Cup up there for April. None of us have played there before however. Renting a cabin and playing 3 days of golf

Any places to hang out or good places to eat around there?

Waterfront Grill if it's still open. There's a couple other places that I can't recall right now, but I'll edit when they come to me.

Waterfront is no longer at Black Bear, they now have Champions Bistro. I've had it a few times and it's really good, I personally like it better than the waterfront. As far as things to do in delhi... there really isn't anything to do. We have a group of us that go every year and we rent a cabin on Poverty Point lake which is 5 minutes from the course. Always a good time just drinking and cooking out with old friends, and the prices are reasonable.

Would be a nice weekend trip and play Squire Creek since it’s only an hour away as well.

SC website says guests aren't allowed on weekends, but it would be fun. Stay in Monroe and see the bright lights of Bawcomville.

The fairway bunkers are ground under repair. The greenside bunkers are fine. I have heard they are going to do away with the fairway bunkers, which I think they should. Apparently bunker maintenance is labor intensive and expensive. Broke arse Louisiana should have thought about that before they put so many of them out there.

As for the course, it's a fun layout and fairly tough. Especially is you haven't played it. It is very reasonably priced. The cabins on the lake are sweet and the say the newly revamped stay and play lodging at the course is nice. The restaurant at the course is good but there isn't jack shite to do in Delhi. Your best bet is to head East to Mound and hit up the Long Branch

If you're a fisherman a weekend playing golf and fishing the reservoir would be a hoot.

Ya, if you are going to spend the time and money to make a trip to north east Louisiana for a golf trip SC is the place to go. You have to know a member though to play, usually the club pro there is pretty accommodating. Wouldn't hurt to call the shop and ask.
