What are the best pubic courses within 2 hours of Baton Rouge?

I'm partial to Greystone. But U-Club is a good challenge. And New Orleans has TPC, Bayou Oaks, English Turn. The Bluffs is unique because of the elevation changes. I'm sure I'm missing a few that are further west.

It's been awhile since I lived there, but the best public courses in br area are:
1) The bluffs
2) Santa Maria
3) copper mill
4) beaver creek

Throw in Carter Plantation and Lakewood and I agree with all of those. I also do like Belle Terre's golf course as well.

You can probably make it to Grand Bear in around 2 hours and some change.

always liked Santa Maria. The grass was always green. Must be nice to have so much rain during the summer to keep things nice and the ground not so hard.

Played in a scramble at the Island ~5 weeks ago and the greens were awful. They had been punched a few weeks before and had some kind of disease

The Island fairways and tees are great. Bunkers bad but to be expected with downpours recently. Greens are getting better but not where they should be after punching over a month ago.
