Yeah I got ya. I can’t speak on their efforts to make the course playable after the rain.

That course drains terribly. After a hard rain it is difficult to find a dry spot, even in the fairways.

Haha probably could.

Need them to get the pumps out this evening to ensure it’s not CPO come Friday.

No one has mentioned that this is supposed to be a 3 day tournament. It’s already shut down to 18 holes. Is that really fair?

Would they tell Bama and Clemson playing in the national football semifinal, “due to bad weather, we will just play the first quarter and then the team leading after that advances”?

Fairer than going off of rankings. Play well or go home.

Tough tough deal right there. I’m not sure that they had enough daylight to get in 18 holes today. Sucks that they couldn’t extend the event for a day or two.

More fair than playing zero holes and advancing based on seeding when a lot of teams couldn't play a full schedule this season.

You’re right. Much better decision to just give 6 teams the thumbs up based on arbitrary seeding then let them play 18 holes to decide.

Right, and it brings up another issue. You had all these people posting on Twitter that the course was playable yesterday afternoon, but if you start that round and darkness sets before every team can finish, what then?

I suppose they could have finished that round today, but the forecast today was worse than either Monday or Tuesday so it was no guarantee that today would even be playable period. So what do you do if you’ve got every player in the field with 2-3 holes remaining?

This would be a non story if the guy announcing it had handled it better. Just say the course isn’t playable and answer some questions.

His explanation is terrible and turning his back on the players is even worse. The ncaa can’t get out their own way.

Using your same example, if the weather for the championship game made it impossible to play would they just cancel it?

Play had to be completed by this evening so extending til tomorrow or the weekend wasn't an option.

Why did they “have to” finish it today? I’m assuming that’s some NCAA deadline, no way they could extend the deadline that they created in the first place?

I can’t answer why, just know that was the case. Assuming stipulated by the NCAA.

So in your opinion it’s more fair to just advance the higher seeds than it is to actually let them play a round of golf for it?
