Are todays Golf Balls too much alike ?

I think that might be the case now.
Todays Golfers too many categories.
Golfers now choose balls based on -
Price
Soft or Firmness
Status / Ego
Colors
Marketing
I currently play the Chrome Tour ball.
In the past few months I have tried a box or a Sleeve -
TP5
TP5X
Srixon Z Star
Maxfli Tour
Cally Super Soft
Titleist Tru Soft
I hit the ball really high with my irons and its partly due to my swing and my sweeping the ball I imagine.
I can honestly say that with my game, I found no real performance differences in the TP5 models, Chrome Tours or the Maxfli Tours balls. The Maxfli was a little firmer feeling, but not bad.
For me the Z Star was definitely shorter, but felt great.
The Tru Soft and the Super Soft unimpressive.
There is something about the ProV1 balls that I can't get use to. Plus I have been pissed at them for years for driving up the prices.
So now, I am considering the Chrome Tour X or the Bridgestone B, even though I believe I won't be happy with their firmness and I may spin them even more.
I tied the first generation of the AVX ball a few years ago, but I have not played to newest models.
Any other suggestions ?

The AVX is a very interesting ball.
I found one and played a whole round with it and loved it, even tho it is not made for me.
I need to revisit that one.

Of all the things that effect my game, the ball is so far down on the list, I don't even worry about it. My superstitions cause me to like AVXs best. Used.
Only thing I can say for certain about golf balls is the more I paid for them, the quicker I will lose them.

I've played ProV1 for years but last month tried out the Srixon Z Star and I've liked the results. I haven't noticed a change in distance but I do like the feel better off the club face and it's got premium spin around the greens. On chips, the ProV1 stops too much for me, like nearly dead in its tracks.
I like the Z Star because it'll land, grab, and slowly trickle a couple feet. It's helped leave me closer to the hole when trying to save par or bogey. Keeping doubles off the card is big for me as a high 9 - low 10 handicap.

The Maxfli Tour S has very good buzz. MGS liked them a lot. Had great numbers. I still play the Maxfli Tour X.

I used to play the Vice Pro but it would hit the green with no release at all so I switched to the Titleist Velocity and like it since it does release but not to much. I'm 69 so not a high swing speed.

I switched to the Maxfli Tour and haven’t looked back. Can’t beat the $30/doz price point.

I’ve tried a bunch of different balls, my favorite so far unfortunately has been Amazon’s ball.
Second favorite is Taylormade Ink balls
I just got 2 dozen in from Bigga Balls to try those though, would love to find a US made one that ends up my favorite

Vice pros are the best bargain. Seems the same as Chrom Tour

This is the way. The later generations spin a decent amount around the green and it's a lower flight ball.
It's the only one I play with and it does everything I need it to do... it even sinks better than other balls.

I would say clubs are very alike as well these days.
When I went to get fitted for irons, I couldn't tell a difference at all. They all felt pretty much the same.

I love the AVX. It was somewhat of a dud at launch for reasons I never understood but I got good results with it and it’s my #1 ball.

AVX is a very low spin ball with slightly lower compression than the ProV1 which can make fly straighter and farther.
I've played them if I find them on the course. They are great off the tee, not so much on approach shots or around the green, at least for me.
I love the Bridgestone Tour B line. They are all ridiculously straight balls. Even when I force a shape, it's always a "baby" shape which is what I want. If I do the same with any other ball, I always over cook it.

The only area I see a difference in the golf ball is off the tee. The AVX does not spin as much as others. I realize if I fixed my swing it would be better but the AVX stays in play much more than others.
