still find it funny that if that PE group didn't jump in and bail out the PGA, they would have had to merge with LIV at the minimum to survive.

Hope all those players got cash up front and not a year by year deal

Good thing they did, because then the PGA Tour would be in a pickle with this potential shutdown from the PIF.

Goes to show you that subsidies and bailouts are ok with with people if it affects something they like or need.

What in the world are you talking about?

You are now comparing PE to a government bailout. Brother you are absolutely in orbit right now

If we are going down this road, wouldn't LIV be the one with the subsidy since a government entity is funding it? The PGA Tour got money from private equity. It's not some charity or play thing. That group expects returns, unlike PIF. Well, unlike PIF until now.

The PE group that funded the PGA is not going to get back anywhere near what they put into it. The PGA had money problems and needed money to pay players to stop LIV defections.

There hasn't been any added value to the PGA tour to make up for the original financial issues, they just got cash to make up the budget shortages. The modern PGA tour model is still an issue.

Dude you are absolutely in the mud right now. You think the PE group just willingly gave charity money to the Tour?

I’m sure other investors will want to jump in on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Maybe Phil and Norman can pony up to keep this great golf tour alive.

Well, if that is the case, with LIV potentially going away, they will no longer have the irrational actor distorting the actual worth of a golfer. Maybe Rolapp will get purses back to being more reasonable.

In one breath LIV bots will say Phil was right on how the tour was shafting players and not paying them their worth, then in the next breath laugh that the tour was going broke trying to pay players more

It’s great

Glad this experiment is coming to an end. Sucks that we lost some years of BDC and Rahm on the real tour, but the PGA tour is stronger than ever today.

Wasn't most of the player money paid up front? Wasn't that one of the perks...the golfers got their money as a signing bonus. If so, that money is gone already.

I don’t think that’s ever been made public but my understanding is the first wave of players had contracts structured differently than the more recent signees

Obviously some endorsement money too but he was not worth 100 million+ before LIV, no matter what some TMZ site may say.

His endorsements alone dwarf anything he made actually playing golf, and that was 50 million. Yes a player of his stature was worth 9 figures. Go look at his endorsements. Major players and he was the face of Callaway

I imagine a lot of golf agents are having the worst days. Can’t imagine they ever sign to many more players. Talk about steering your players in the wrong direction
