Well, for starters one day Tiger and Phil were gojng to most likely be honorary starters at Augusta. I doubt that happens in either case now.

The only way Tiger is not eventually an honorary starter at the Masters is if he can't physically swing a club.

Of course it will. The PGA tour doesn't control the Masters.

In other words, they will finish the season and then reevaluate at the end of the season. My guess is that the PIF does not fund LIV in 2027, but they have to give the perception that they are in it “for the foreseeable future.”

It sure has gotten awful quiet in this thread.

This feels like all of those LIV rumors about players leaving but the exact opposite in that it's anti-LIV. It would be odd to just shut down in the middle of the season.

Eh, this is what I expected. It's not as much fun to discuss if the result is status quo.

For sure the "victory laps" have been postponed for at least a little while.

You might want to give it a couple weeks before you start taking a victory lap. Most of the serious reporting said LIV Mexico was still going to happen and that the executives were still trying to find a way to keep things afloat.

What else would they tell their players in the short term, even if in reality they see the writing on the wall?

We’ll see. Maybe all the reporting was totally wrong or maybe this was all a weird pr ploy by LIV. Or maybe Yasir convinced MBS to give them more rope.

Or they’re just getting all their ducks in a row to try to wrap things up as best they can. Remember when LIV first launched it “died” after Phil’s phone call quotes leaked? Everyone said they weren’t going to join and hadn’t spoken to anyone. And then two months later after a pause they did an about face and relaunched.

Would be poetic if things ended the same way

Probably their only choice at this point. Finish the season and then pull the plug.

I am glad I will have the option to watch LIV golf for the rest of the season. I can continue to watch very little golf from each of the tours outside of the majors.

Hopefully Bryson and Rahm are in the final pairing in Mexico on Sunday.

All this guy says is that they’re continuing as planned thru Mexico. I don’t think that’s a shock.

I for one will enjoy all the golf media who claimed to have no issue with LIV, yet started dancing on the grave today, now are back being dead quiet again.

Next event is in Virginia starting May 7th. It would not shock me if reports heat back up between now and then.

Just make it through June so we can have the event in Louisiana please.

the story was blown out of proportion and members of the media were manipulated by bad actors in an effort to cover up imminent layoffs at the PGA Tour.

What does this sentence even mean?

Thank goodness! The Mexican tournament is the one I wait for every year. I will put on my “Crushers” gear and watch this historic tournament unfold on The UPN.

Isn’t P Reed’s punishment that he can’t play until one year after his last LIV start?

What recourse does LIV have if players start saying screw this, I’m not waiting till the end of the year for my clock to go back to PGAT start? I mean they’re in breach of contract, but if the PIF is pulling the plug, how do they fund the legal battle?
