Anyone done the RJT trail in Birmingham?

Thinking about doing the 2 courses in the Birmingham area for a guys' trip. Has anyone done this and have recommendations on where to stay? Is the Ross Bridge resort worth the stay, or Is an Airbnb a better option? Any thoughts/input on the courses as well?

Oxmoor is very nice. Valley/Ridge both great courses. Never played the par 3 but looks pretty nice/fun. If you have the ability to do it - try to get on Ross Bridge too. Right down the street and its an awesome course too.

As in the Ross Bridge resort?
Yeah, it's worth a stay. Nice place, great course, couple of good restaurants in the Ross Bridge neighborhood and on site. We usually work in a weekend there every year. It's a good little stopover between Atlanta and where we live (have to go to Atlanta a few times a year for various retail markets).
I will say the main pool gets crowded with kids, but there's another pool above it that's adults only and you really don't hear all the chaos of the main pool when you're up there.
The Oxmoor courses are well maintained too. The Ridge course has bent greens, and bent grass apparently does not handle the abuse of that many balls hitting them like bermuda. They still roll good, they just have a ton of more visible pitch marks. I liked the bent greens, but I'd say the Valley course has more memorable holes on it though.
Also, if you're playing on a weekend, you have to be quick 7 days in advance to get most of the morning tee times. I can't remember what time the portal opens, but it's an online first come first serve situation.

Love RTJ courses. Depending how far out you want to book it, package tee times can be outside of 7 days but are subject to cancelation fees.

I've played Oxmoor, very nice course. Can't comment on anything else about it though.

The Resort is really nice. But I would get in touch with Rick Oster at Oster Houses and look into a rental. We stayed at Oxmoor Valley at rented the Palmer house from him. It was an exceptional experience. House was lovely and had everything you could possibly want. Only drawback was you had to drive to the courses as you couldn't take a cart back to the house. Played Ridge, Valley and Ross Bridge. Skipped the par three (Back Yard) as it was a walk only course and we didn't want to fool with that.

Palmer house is literally at the entrance of Oxmoor Valley. You could walk to the bag drop.

Do Capital hill instead. 3 top notch courses in one location. I’m a bit partial because I’m a member there.
Ross Bridge is an excellent course, but personally I’m not a big fan of The Ridge at Oxmoor Valley. I don’t like getting penalized for being in the middle of the fairway, which can definitely happen there because of the slopes.

I’d stay at RB. It’s nice and worth it.
I play Oxmoor Valley at least 4 times a month. Alternate between the two courses. Ridge has been my favorite lately.
Ross Bridge is long, but pretty open. Fun course.
The short course at Oxmoor valley is fun and has a good variety of par 3s.
They are all maintained very well.
Several other courses in the Birmingham area that are fun/very nice. Ballantrae is a municipal course but excellent condition and a fun layout.
Highland Park is fun/short. Little pricey now for what it is, but I’ve never had a bad time there.
Timberline is a 25-30 minute drive down 65 and is a great layout. They’d just punched the greens last time I was there and it wasn’t in the best shape I’d seen it, but that was back in March.
45-50 minutes north of Bham is Limestone Springs. I believe it’s the hidden gem of the state. Worth the 100 dollars every time I’ve played there.

Took my son and his buddy on a RTJ golf trip years ago. Played at both Oxmoor and Ross Bridge. Loved both. You'll enjoy it.

All 3 courses are really nice and good. Par 3 course is a fun relaxing time to just screw around with your buddies

The Short Course has been replaced with the Backyard par 3. Kid friendly but not as nice as the old short course.
Haven't played a bad RTJ course yet. A steal for Alabama residents with the trail card.

Played all 3 several times. All of them were nice. To me Ross Bridge is a little easier. Little longer but wider fairways.
Stay at Ross Bridge and drive over to the others

We stayed at the Player and Crenshaw houses on Oxmoor property. We had 12 guys...8 in one house and 4 in the other. They shared a putting green in between. Played all of the RTJ courses there - Valley, Ridge, Backyard and Roos Bridge after driving down from The Shoals last summer for our guys trip. It was a sweet trip. Those houses are legit. I'd never stay in a hotel if there is an Oster House near the course. Well worth it. We've come to BHam twice for our summer trips and while I prefer Capitol Hill, the Oxmoor/Ross Bridge set is fantastic. The Shoals are both awesome courses. Won't go back to Hampton Cove in Huntsville. Didn't like those course very much.
