Anybody played Tapaito Springs. The Quarry or Landa Park GC in Texas lately ?

Several of us are going to play the renovated Landa Park GC, The Quarry and Tapaito Springs the last week of April.

Then we are going to come back through Lockhart and get the World's best bbq.

Appreciate any feedback.

No info on those courses but I was at Blacks BBQ a couple of weeks ago and the beef rib and briskets was good/consistent as always.

Good info on Black's, I have always been a Krew's BBQ guy, but may try something else too.

Not sure your definition of lately, but I played Tapatio Springs in 2020 during the pandemic (when we had only 2 weeks to stop the curve). This is certainly outside the scope of "lately", but it is the best I have to offer.

Only time I've ever played it. It was a fun course, good condition.

Landa is amazing - you'll have a ton of fun there.

The quarry back 9 is in an actual quarry and is super unique and a lot of fun.

tapatio springs is also super fun but the greens are slow.

are you looking for hill country golf recommendations? affordable but great golf?

i'd recommend the following :

lighthouse country club (kingsland) in terms of good shape and affordability.

delaware springs golf (same as above)

vaaler creek (same as above)

silverhorn (san antonio)

any of the horsehoe bay courses

Legends at LBJ is infinitely better than Lighthouse

Good point. The greens at Landa are diabolical but the course tee to green is probably better at Legends.

Ive played Tapatio Springs and the Quarry. i found TS to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed the Quarry too but pace of play was super slow when i was there and when in the quarry there is no breeze it felt like seating in a sauna

One of our guys grew up playing Landa, so that's why we're are playing there.

We are getting to play Tapatio for the cart fee only .

We might have a "in" at Cordillera Ranch, if so we will drop the Quarry since we have played it several times.

I played Cordillera 4 years ago and it was great.

Played The Quarry two weeks ago on a golf trip. Fairways were dry so we got a lot of run. The front is much easier than the back so be ready at the turn. There is a patio at the club house that over looks the back nine that was great for post round drinks.

Thanks for the info !

I should know by next week if we play The Quarry or Cordillera Ranch.

Being in the fairway would’ve helped even more.

But yea the quarry was in great shape two weeks ago.

On another note ,

One of my favorite courses to play in San Antonio is the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. Haven't been in a few years, need to make it back.

Sometimes a courses fits you eye. Always enjoyed it and it was in good shape last time I played it.

Didn’t they break the course into 3 9’s? We played there a bunch in junior golf. Whatever side had #9 with the green over water destroyed a mega low round I had going. My dad still brings up that event after watching my meltdown.

Tapatio is arguably my favorite layout in the San Antonio region and I love Briggs Ranch

Haven't played Briggs Ranch yet.

Also love the Palmer Course at La Cantera and I miss Pecan Valley.

Pecan Valley, man. I can't think of a bad hole out there. Republic has kind of taken away the "loss" of PV as a stout public course in that area-ish but man PV was truly a classic layout.

Parents joined Briggs shortly after it opened. Gill had a really good vision the only problem is that people didn't move that direction and moved up 10 towards Boerne so the course struggled gaining traction. Then cordillera ranch came into the mix and really hampered the growth of Briggs. I'm not a fan of cordillera, overall it's rather bland given the excellent topography of the area. I also think that of most Nicklaus courses but that's me.
