And by the way, don't put Mario and Zelda under 1 and 2. It's a fact that they're the top two series. Every game is built on them, so save yourself some pain.

Not gonna list but I do find it funny how Nintendo's top 3 franchises revolve around an Italian plumber, a Western European princess, and a Ridley Scott inspired bounty hunter.

After those 3, it's basically a wash but honorable mentions to Resident Evil, Battlefield, Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Dark Souls.

Mario was a bit before my time and the only Mario game I ever beat was Mario 64. I grew up on Halo then Halo 2 and 3 with friends, God I miss those nights.

2. Civilization - redefined turn-based strategy
3. Halo - redefined FPS genre and has a wealth of stuff outside the FPS realm.
4. Warcraft - the sheer number WoW used to pull is staggering.
6. Grand Theft Auto - a favorite across all people
5. Zelda
6. Starcraft - pro circuit staple with every release
7. Diablo - damn you Diablo III
8. Metal Gear
9. Elder Scrolls/Fallout
10. Final Fantasy
Just missed the cut: DOOM, Age of Empires, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Kingdom Hearts

Mario is getting stale. I havent played a great Mario game since galaxy and the 2d games they make really gives me the impression they're on cruise control with Mario.

SMB was OG, played the crap out of 2 and 3, had my time with 64, but I really don't miss them and don't get all that excited over new installments anymore. I'm curious about the Switch iteration, but it doesn't grab me much anymore.

I heard it was probably the best out of the latest batch of Mario games, but #@%* the Wii.
