Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - May 29th

Would highly recommend to anyone who likes RPGs. As I've said before, it's a bit anime, but I don't like animes and it's fine.
Story is excellent. Worldbuilding is great. Battle system was one of the best - until XC2 came along.
Overview Trailer

related to Xenogears at all?

The combat looks extremely confusing.

Can't wait. Currently doing a second playthrough of XC2 now.

I think loosely from what I hear, but I never played those.

It can seem that way, but once you get a hang of it it makes a lot of sense and is a lot of fun. There are no spells to cast, so you just have normal attacking and arts - which function like spells, debuffs, etc. Arts have properties that you want to learn to deploy, combine, etc.
Take Diablo 3 up to the next level and make combos matter more. If I remember Shulk gets like 15 or 16 Arts in Total and you only use 8 at a time, and once you find your preferred arts, you don't really need to change them so they become second nature.

So they're remaking this game for a third time now?

Yup.
Worth it again. It was released dang near after the Wii was at the end, and then released on a platform that a large section of gamers don't really frequent.

thanks, I don't like animes either.

is the fighting like final fantasy?

It’s not as confusing as it looks.
Not sure I will get this on release as I’ll be moving around that time. Def picking it up as soon as I can tho. Currently playing Nier Automata and then contemplating playing FF7 OG again then finally playing 8 and 9.

It's close to 12 (I haven't played 15), but more active. Position matters, a lot, and there's a sequence you end up focusing on once you get all of the arts - Break --> Topple --> Daze. Each character can do at least 2 of them, and has different skills for inflicting each status. Once you Daze an enemy your attacks and arts are basically free and more powerful.

Bought and started playing, but I just couldn’t find my rhythm.
The fighting system is multi-layered and convoluted and I just couldn’t find any fun with it.
Not sure I really understood it.

XC2 is definitely more complex than XC.
I enjoyed it more, but it probably took 30 hours of play before it started clicking. XC might have taken 10-15 to fully grasp.
But it both cases - You don't need it to click. You'll beat all story bosses without getting into the nitty gritty of the Topple combos. The intracacies of the battle system are really to be able to beat enemies while underleveled or to take on the roaming/extra bosses and special bosses.

I wasn’t even leveled up that much but i killed the frick out of the final boss because i had a complete grasp of the combat
Exactly, I just edited this in:

And out of all the games with special, non-story bosses, I've had the most fun in the XC games BECAUSE of the battle system. In most games it's about loot, loadouts or levels - most of the Final Fantasy bosses.
In XC, it's not loot at all, it's how well you can orchestrate the battle system.
