I'll say this.... XC is less anime and more real than XC2. The pure fantasy of XC2 is better, but I'd say XC has a better overall story. It's a close call though.
Not a spoiler, but a suggestion - once you beat XC go back and watch the XC2 final 2-3 cinematics again, just saying....

The combat is better than Xenoblade 2, but it would be so much better if it dropped the gimmicks.
I just learned a new ability for the Monado that helps me damage a new enemy type. The enemies can't be damaged until I cast an ability that dispells their shield, but they'll just re-cast their shield before you can build up your monado meter thing making it pointless.
I'm still learning, but like the second game, every boss fight feels like a DPS check because their ability to do damage far outstrips your ability to heal.

Beat it last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I don't know if I think it's one of the greatest JRPGs of all time, but the story was entertaining (if a bit nonsensical). There were about 3 or 4 very frustrating boss fights. Riki is my favorite JRPG party member.
It left me hungry for more Xeno games. I am trying to decide between Chronicles X on the Wii U or Xenoblade 2 on the Switch. I'd only previously played Torna.

Xenoblade 2 on the switch as it is a much closer tie-in to this game, is on the switch, and is a more well rounded game than X was. X was probably my last favorite xeno game to date: and that includes the saga series

I got about halfway through X and "gave up." I don't think I've ever played a game that made itself so hard to like.
With a lot of quality of live improvements, a switch port would be solid.

I enjoyed X the least out of the 3, but I do think it had some unique charms.
