Xbox removing games from game pass?

I just got a series X and downloaded lots of games form game pass, including Witcher 3. Had played it for a bit and then one day I couldn’t access it and got an error message saying the trial was over or the owner needed to sign in (which I was). I couldn’t figure it out at first and then went into game pass and noticed Witcher 3 had been removed. Is this common? What a crock, I’m paying for this damn service.

Yeah, they rotate games in and out just like streaming services do with movies/TV shows.

Virtually every subscription service rotates content. Sucks if you get hit with it in the middle of a playthrough, but it seems like most titles get fairly long availability periods before they get pulled.
The only content that stays permanently are Microsoft owned properties.

Seems like you can play PS+ games forever as long as you’re subscribed.

Different service.
The MS approximation is games with gold which functions identically to that.

I'm never going to finish RDR2.

I mean you could... you know... buy it.

I bought this game back on PS4 and it was advertised as being part of game pass so that’s a hell of a lot of money to spend on a 5 year old game.

It’s a popular game, I can imagine it will be added back again at some point.
Other likely scenario is that cdpr will discount Witcher at some point in the near future for a sales drive since cyberpunk shite the bed so badly.

The only games that have, so far, stayed on Game Pass forever are the ones made by Microsoft-owned studios. I imagine at some point older Microsoft-owned games people have stopped playing will start being removed, but that hasn't happened yet. They are added to Game Pass the day they are released and stay there.
Games from studios that aren't owned by Microsoft are totally on a contract basis between Microsoft and that studio. At some point the contract ends, they roll off, and new games get added. There is usually a "leaving soon" section in Game Pass where you can find which games will be rolling off.
ETA: Given CDPR's recent issues, I bet we see more of their games on Game Pass soon. They probably need some easy income from a deal like "let us put some of your old games on our service."
ETA2: It looks like Witcher 3 was scheduled to leave on 3/15. Departing games are usually on sale for a pretty solid discount before they leave Game Pass completely, but you've probably missed that boat. LINK

Bro you literally paid $1 to play half a game. You ought to be thankful for that incredible deal.

You also have a one month window to download that game.

Your original post says you downloaded a lot of games. Why bitch about the price? It’s crazy cheap considering what it offers. I bet you complain to get your check free at restaurants.
