Like players in other countries, Argentina and New Zealand gamers can play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming for free and without any membership required

These losers are really excited to be able to play Fortnite for free on their TV after they can already play it free on their console lol

Grasping at straws. They gonna count Samsung sells as consoles sales just to keep close to PlayStation ?

Well, it seem with this move, xbox won't need consoles anymore, so they can let the PS5 fight for a dinosaur industry while they make money off of every Xbox pass enable Samsung TV sold.

Cloud gaming is Xbox future with casual gaming's. They dont need the console war when they fighting on a field that SOny not even playing on.

The tech for cloud gaming isnt there yet bro. the latency is arse and there are a bevy of other issues. if they sort these things out (10+ years probably), then consoles will indeed be obsolete. Long way to go though

Sucks that Microsoft is doing all this and still can’t get anyone to play Xbox
Microsoft is buying all the game developers and is making those games available on Gamepass/Cloud gaming. Give it 3-4 years. Xbox isn’t just the console anymore and isn’t the future vision Microsoft has for the division.

I give it 5 years or less. I’ve been using Xcloud and it has been fantastic.

It'll definitely get to the point where every gaming company has an app you can download to any smart tv or device. I think it's great for people that want to try a game out before downloading 70gb of shite or for very casual gamers that don't want to invest in hardware yet (like parents with super young kids that want to play stuff). But there will always be bandwidth and latency issues for "serious" or competitive gamers

If the nearest cloud server to me is 200 miles away (that's very optimistic), the speed of light through fiber optic cable is roughly half what it is in a vacuum, so ~90 miles a millisecond. That's 2.2ms to get to the cloud, and 2.2ms back. So right away 4.4ms added to anything you do. That's also not counting jumps between you and the data center where latency is also added by the handling and routing of your data packet.

It will be a very viable option, especially in countries where hardware is insanely expensive, but I think hardware will always have somewhat of a presence

110+ million PS4s sold and 20 million PS5 despite its scarcity.

Something about the future of cloud and Samsung apps. The Xbox video game console has everything you could ever want….except good games.

At the end of the day, I don't think Microsoft's approach to gaming is really all that different than what it was in 2013. They're just going about it in a way that engenders more good will with the gaming press and the public.
Microsoft approach to gaming is that of a company that is not a gaming company, because they arent

their ultimate goal is to gain subscriptions under the microsoft umbrella (not just gaming). In the past the xbox console was necessary for that on the gaming end but with current technology it is no longer needed

microsoft did not enter the console wars to become a profitable gaming company. They are a tech/data/ subscription company... gaming was just another tool in the chest to to pull in people to the microsoft brand.

I am pretty sure microsoft would love to phase out the xbox all together and make it obsolete and unnecessary, and that may be the plan. The Xbox console itself is a giant nothingburger to microsoft and its profit line

Sony and mircrosoft are playing 2 different games, and microsoft's is way more profitable
