Xbox going all in on Cloud gaming

Samsung to bring the Xbox App to 2022 Smart TVs so that you can play hundreds of cloud-enabled games, without a console.

Like players in other countries, Argentina and New Zealand gamers can play Fortnite with Xbox Cloud Gaming for free and without any membership required.

Not likely. PS5 is still the superior system, though I am enjoying the Series X more than Xbox One.

This move is more about setting Xbox up for the future, they're about to be in a lot more households around the world.

The PS5 is not a superior system. It has lower hardware specs and less software features such as game pass, cross play, and cloud gaming on every thing with a screen. The only advantage the PS5 has is console exclusives, something that Xbox has invested HEAVILY in. In the next few years when Activision Blizzard and Bethesda start dropping major AAA games on Xbox and PC PS5 will be behind Xbox on that front as well. Not to mention the likelihood that Xbox buys other major studios in the meantime.

Not an Xbox fan, I play PC exclusively. Just an informed observer.

No the advantage ps5 has is exclusives(if we ever get any) don't have to cater to a little brother. I have a series S, it's going to hold your entire generation back. It's way to slow, it's a last gen-console.

Nah, this is a big freaking deal.

Look at it as, Microsoft just won the console war by turning all new Samsung TVs into consoles

Samsung has been the TV sales leader for the past 15 years, so good call on working with them.

They aren't consoles. Like you can do this already from your phone, and have been for a while. You'd figure with this on a few billion devices, PS5's would be in stock.

They essentially become a terminal whereas they are accessing the cloud where all of the processing is taking place. I don't think it will work for everyone especially those in rural areas with garbage ISPs but for myself on a fiber network, it should work pretty well.

At the end of the day, I don't think Microsoft's approach to gaming is really all that different than what it was in 2013. They're just going about it in a way that engenders more good will with the gaming press and the public.

They're still pushing hard for a digital only future where you don't actually own any of the games that you play and everything is streamed directly form the cloud.

I just can't support that.

I can concur the overall theme is the same, however they have really got their act together to streamline and execute the plan. They are polar opposite of their 2013 vision, which was a mess. They left the Xbox entertainment hub concept behind, and now full on gaming mode.

You already support that model, all of us do. The whole concept of "I want to own all my games on disk" is pretty weak. We live in a digital world now, love it or hate it.

I suppose. Adding an extra 40-100ms on top of the display lag already present is unacceptable for me.

This is why Microsoft will win the “console” wars. PlayStation can’t do this kind of stuff. In the future it’s going to be “pay $15 a month for Xcloud gaming and download the app onto your TV”. It’ll be that or pay $500 for another console

The long running joke of Skyrim being available on everything will continue.

Well, it seem with this move, xbox won't need consoles anymore, so they can let the PS5 fight for a dinosaur industry while they make money off of every Xbox pass enable Samsung TV sold.

Cloud gaming is Xbox future with casual gaming's. They dont need the console war when they fighting on a field that SOny not even playing on.

Sucks that Microsoft is doing all this and still can’t get anyone to play Xbox
