My sons Xbox 360 loses sound after playing for a while. If he turns it off and back on again it works fine. Any ideas why this is happening and is it common?

Mine does it only for a few seconds at a time, usually at the start of a BLOPSII map

Hmm, usually the sound loss issue could be tied back into the older models overheating but that's not much an issue with the new slim ones.

Are you using HDMI cable of the component cables? I would try switching those out first if you can.

HDMI

Good suggestion... I'll try this next time or try switching the HDMI cable.
