This game is just another level of incredible. The world is massive but not to the point it feels excessive like Assassins Creed: Odyssey.

Why can't they make more Open World RPG's like this? Could you imagine one in Westeros? Or a modern KOTOR? You would think more companies would want to make these.

Oh well, on to the expansions.

It takes lots of resources, along with a good team, to do them right.

Very similarly in that you can pretty much explore huge areas of the map in any direction or order you want, with interesting quests and objectives and points of interest being scattered all over.

However there is much stronger story line in Witcher 3 so certain major objectives must be completed before things progress. There are certain areas that don't open until you complete a certain objective, and later story major objectives can't be done before the earlier ones.

Even with that, the storyline in Witcher 3 is very dynamic, you make a ton of choices throughout that alters the story.

Like I said in your botw thread, be prepared to get frustrated when Geralt can't climb even the smallest ledge

Also, he dies from like 6ft falls.

But I loved the game almost as much as BOTW. It's the best game I've ever played.

Cant think of a game with a better opening 3-5 hours than Witcher 3. Between the griffin fight, meeting the witches of the wood, and all the cool opening cinematics, it makes replays so much more enticing than something like RDR2.

I think the only game from this console generation I liked more than Witcher 3 is Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Witcher 3 is the best game of this gen and I'd say it's really not up for debate.

I’m looking forward to playing it too but you really think it beats DS3 and Bloodborne?

Very different games, so you really can't compare them.

Agreed. I also am not a huge Souls fan.

Witcher is a big immersion game. World is massive, but not much of it is empty, it’s the best open world game I’ve played in that regard. Base game is at least 70 hours and that’s if you pretty much just do your leveling w/ story and run through it. No exploring, grinding. There is also cheap DLC that is fantastic and another 30-40 hours just as good as the base game.

In compared to Souls or BB, Witcher is not very challenging, imo, unless you play on the highest difficulty. I can’t play on that one, it’s a big skill jump.

I’m replaying KOTOR right now and I can only imagine how amazing a remake would be.

And a publisher that isn't braindead set on deadlines to the point of hampering the development team.

As a Souls freak that’s what I was afraid of. Same with trying to get into any Elder Scrolls. Good to know there’s at least a setting.

Most modern games are just too easy. IMO Souls is a perfect sweet spot - note how the insane bosses are optional/DLC.

To use interweb language a lot of gamers never beat Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden/Mario Lost Levels on NES and it shows.

Currently 80 hours into DS3. And from what I’ve read online I’m probably only 50% finished the game. But I’m seeking out everything I can find and playing around and farming souls.

I probably have 4 to 5 times that amount on ESO. But that’s what I like about these games. A story I can get into; and immerse myself for a few months. I hate the games that I can finish a “campaign” in a few sittings.

I die and I die a lot in Souls 3. But I always go back and try again. Sometimes I just have to use something different or cheese the boss or knight off a ledge. But whatever works.

I’ve made the decision to try Witcher 3 after DS 3. So, I’ll be looking at getting it and the DLC after I’m done with DS 3 in a few more weeks. Hopefully, I can find a sale on the game.

I’ve just finished my first play through of TW3 and no idea why it took me so long. The hype is real and this is legit one of the best games I’ve ever played. The detail, narrative structure, and scenery are amazingly well done. Still have the DLCs to go and can’t wait.

This has gotten me absolutely stoked for Cyberpunk more than I already was. CDPR is the cream of the crop and I’ve no doubt it it’ll be GOTY quality

Some of us just like to have fun.

ETA Broken record, but I try and try to like Witcher 3, and I can never get over the garbage controls. Everyone tells me you get used to it at some point but it never happens. I try every few months and I walk away every time. Then I play the new AC games, and those control so fluidly, smoothly, and just fun.

It's my same issue with Red Dead 2. I know the game is really good, but I can never get over how it's just not fun to play.

If I got through Skyrim impressed will I Like Witcher 3?

Assassins Creed games is that what you are referring to? Which one do you suggest?

With Skyrim it took a bit to get used to the controls/mechanics but once I did I liked the game.
