like Skyrim it is taking me awhile to learn all the controls. all the things you can do other than the sword and magic are overwhelming.

Just starting a replay of W3. Never finished it 4 years ago and had maybe 40 hours or so in.

I’m between going with W3 or starting up AC Odyssey. (Never played).

I know both are a major time sink and think I’m going to stick with my initial idea of W3

just used the witcher sense to see the hunters footprints. and dived in the water to find the bait for the thing I have to kill. Swimming is very nice...

marking the quests on the map and using the map is now learned. Now I need to learn to fight with all the magic.

Yeah, I'd just stick with quen until you get very used to the fighting, outside of using aard when going up against dudes with shields, and yrden against wraiths.

USE THE BESTIARY

It will tell you what monsters are weak to which signs etc. It's important if you're going to attempt the higher difficulties.

It doesn't hurt to go on youtube and look up the various character builds

Start screen. It is basically your encyclopedia of beasts. The info you collect is logged there for you to reference. Mainly, it tells you their weaknesses

Enjoy the ride.

The combat system is very hard to get used to at first. Even minor skirmishes you'll want to apply certain oils or take certain potions depending on the monster type. When I first started I quit after an hour or so in the game and went back to Dark Souls 3 for a while.

If you just take the time to explore and get into the story and characters it really is quite rewarding.

My one suggestion is don't do what I did and check what different choices cause to have happen before selecting options. Just make choices by gut instinct even if it gives you less than ideal endings or you lose out on items.

I had to stop playing for about 2 months because my TV went out. I’m getting a replacement tomorrow, I’m thinking about just starting a new game instead of picking up where I left off.

I can’t wait to get back into this game. It’s unlike anything I’ve played.

Definitely dont research what consequences the choices have. Just play it and enjoy.

It certainly takes awhile to get into. I like the quests so clearly marked in yellow flashing marked on the map. It even has a white dotted pattern to watch in the little screen within on the upper right of the path as you travel to the quest. A lot more structured with a story line than BOTW. I like that better.

It is amazing all that I have done and I am barely to level 3. I am at the ugly lady creature in the well and if I hadn't looked it up on YT no way would I have found the bracelet in the well. I like the music it is familiar yet I can't remember from where. The characters and details of their faces and personality are unreal.

Whichever sign (when leveled up) allows you to put down a trap that shocks and stuns enemies was so awesome. It even works on most bosses.

You’re as pale as oatey shite.

Uh uh uhhh.

Grand those swords, but I prefer my trusty axe.

Slap a noonwraith’s tits, you’re a bigger rag-picker than me!

Your arse hair white, too?

i killed my first wraith thing. I used the circular magic then fire magic on her and my best sword

now I am in a field and the old dude gives me a crossbow but there is no time to use it; it keeps saying you cannot do that in combat.

Make sure you bring up the magic wheel and select the crossbow in the bottom slot.

When fighting just one enemy, I auto-target with R3 and shoot. Works great against flying beasts to knock them out of the sky without aiming.

Hint- you don’t have to aim to one-shot kill drowners while underwater. Just face in its general direction and shoot. Don’t even have to R3 target them. Took my 3rd or 4th play through to figure that out
