Don’t know which console to get if one’s better than the other. What are some differences and what would be the better one to buy?

Only difference is one has a disc tray. Same specs. Idk about nowadays but disk was easier to find.

Is there also a difference in storage between the two?

Same storage size. 825gb

eta: forgot to add price difference. Disk model is $499, digital is $399. Disk version is also a bit bulkier with the added tray.

Other than that it’s all the same internally.

Easy way to decide. Do you have a PS4 with physical copies of games that you'd like to replay? If so, go with disc version. Or if you’d like to share games with friends. You can also find better deals on physical copies of games.

If you only own digital content and will continue to do so, go digital version.

For what it’s worth, I have disc version.

Agreed. I read that the disc player is one of the most common things to break on consoles. I'm 100% digital on my games but I have the disc version because that's what I could find when they launched.

for me, back in late 2020, the better version of the 2 was the one that I was actually able to get my hands on and buy.

This. I have never inserted a disk into my disk version PS5.

ETA: I meant to say disk.

Do this. GoW Ragnarok is incredible. No one buys discs anymore anyways.

I still love getting physical copies of games I’ve anticipated for years like Elden Ring and GoW.

For games that's true. However, the PS5 drive also supports 4K blu rays which many people are still buying.

If the OP has any interest in home theater, then the drive version might be worth it. Though as a home theater enthusiast myself, I have a dedicated 4K blu ray player.

For my PS5 model I went with the digital version and added a second M.2 drive (2T) and called it done.

I bought a disc because I have ps4 games and blue rays.

And the disc version of games are generally cheaper.

I already saved the the extra $100 on buying used disc versions over digital copies.

But if you never plan on buying a game on disc, go digital.

Wtf?

This hasn’t been a thing since like early ps2.

And it was because on the ps1s it had those notches that you click the disc into and they broke often and the early ps2 had an actual tray that came out like on your desk top. The tray could break easily.

They went away from all that.

I got the disk version, so I could play my PS4 games on it if I wanted to, though tbh, most of the new games I’ve bought recently have been digital. It’s good to have both.

Disc. You have access to copies of used games or old ps4 discs.

edit: Can also use as a blu-ray player (or dvd).
