When did madden become such garbage

The last madden I played before grabbing madden 21 was madden 14 and holy shite I don’t know what the frick this is. I love all the new plays and concepts but then you get in the game and it’s like it’s a super hero game? fricking super powers for different. Players and the movements of players is so fricky. Is it just me or is this game trash?

EA having a monopoly meant they could get away with a trash product.
They really need to have several different football games. One that's a realistic football simulation, another that's arcade style, another for the MUT types.

Why spend a significant amount of money or resources improving it if the same dopes buy it every year regardless

This was "attempted" with the Comp, Arcade, and Sim slider sets but I don't think it went far enough to separate each from the other

They work. Trust me on that. Sim is pretty accurate to how teams would legit play in terms of ratings. Arcade is just big play after big play and Comp, ratings aren’t THAT important, it’s all execution and timing.

Yeah, I'm thinking more a Tecmo or even Blitz type of game for arcade.

Just like you here. I had the Madden that was released as a bundle on Amazon with the PS4 launch. I actually liked it and recently got the latest Madden on PC. I think I've played it for about 2 hours total since purchasing. I hope that when EA brings back NCAA football that it will not be gimmicky.

The downturn for pretty much all video games changed during the transition from PS2/Xbox to PS3/360 generations.
Online gameplay became more and more prevalent and so the developer's focuses was more on that than it was to making an enjoyable game that can be played offline.

This shite drove me nuts. I had spent a long time playing madden and ncaa football on my old x-box, so I was really looking forward to trying it out on the ps4 with madden 19. Receivers would be open until I threw the ball and then the corner would magically close every time. Drove me insane on quick slants. It’d save my bacon on defense, but made passing an absolute chore on offense. Eventually, I just realized that no video game was worth the irrational anger that game was eliciting in me, so I raged quit and haven’t played since.

It’s been shite for a while now, the yearly Madden releases are for those who play MUT. They take in an insane amount of cash with Ultimate Team from Madden and FIFA.

The biggest issue is when they jumped from the Xbox 360 generation to Xbox one. They basically ported it poorly and continued to dump bad code on a horrible base.

Madden is less of a simulation now and more of a "highlight reel" game. It used to be ridiculously hard for them to give someone a 99 rating. Now there are assloads of them every year.
