What I hate about the entire gaming universe

All these articles and announcements and teases about video games that aren’t going to be released for another year or two. And most of the time when a release date gets announced it gets delayed two weeks before the release date.
When I become dictator I will issue an edict that says to all game studios and developers, don’t even mention your fricking game until three months before the release date. And when that release date is announced it better fricking we’ll get released on that date or you and your entire employee work base will be water boarded and a fine of 5 million dollars will be leveled against your company.
A second offense means studio shut down and a lengthy prison sentence.

It's usually much longer than that. I could handle a year or 2.

Yeah, I don’t even pay attention to announcements anymore, beyond “huh, that could be interesting” and then immediately forgetting about. It always amuses me when I get an email from Steam saying that a game I wishlisted has released and I’m like “what in the frick is that…”

Pretty much, we just had Prime 4 and that got close to a decade.
As long as it’s a year or two from reveal I’m good.

I still get a laugh at the Beyond Good and Evil fans that thought they were getting a sequel. I knew that game was vaporware as soon as I saw the trailer.

A game a year or two out is relatively close to release.
A game like Fate of the Old Republic will probably never actually come out.

Can you include that every game must close the menu, no matter what screen you're on, if you hit the menu key again. Thanks.

The industry has always been like that, except for breaking news to announce a game's delay on social media, you had to wait 3 months until GamePro, Electronic Gaming Monthly or Game Informer to write an article about it.

I've been pissed about this nonsense since the original Cyberpunk teaser trailer. Their fault for making something so compelling even though they knew their entire team was tied up making The Witcher 3 and would be for a long time.

GTA VI got you down bad huh?

I liked when Bethesda announced and dropped Oblivion Remastered the same day. I bought it immediately. The hype for a game is never greater than right after it’s announced. They should just wait till a month or so out to announce games.

What gets me is there are games that were announced 5+ years ago that are still complete vaporware. No screenshots, no gameplay video, no concept art.
It's a plague across the entire industry. There are a small number of studios who actually can produce new games with a good cadence (Capcom, FromSoft) but the vast majority are seemingly incapable of producing games on a reasonable schedule anymore.

Bethesda actually did it right for Fallout 4. Announced in June and released in November.

I don't even care anymore. There are so many good games coming out these days. The industry gets a bad rap because there is a lot of slop these days, but indie games have been popping off and there are still some AAA gems out there. There is zero sense getting worked up about a game that may or may not come out, and has a far more likely chance of being bad than good when it finally does come out
