I mainly play PS4/ps5. Switch is an option. So is steam but must be reasonable don’t have a 30,000$ comp lol

For posterity I’ve played all Ff games, most DQ games; not looking for anything way old school but have played all the classics. Switch I haven’t played many I’ve looked into octopath travelers and three houses. PS4 anything mainstream assume I’ve likely played. Steam game refs welcome it just can’t melt my computer it plays stuff like the FF trilogy that’s it’s medium.
Also all trails of cold steel games I’ve played. Takes games outside of the new ps5 one and Bresia not a fan.

I just started up Nino Kuni wrath of the white witch remastered. You can get it for $15-20.
Im not that far in yet but have had it in my back log for a while. Seems like its going to be really good. Most people think its really good, but i like the graphics and the way it plays so far.

I am setsuna…. Tell me about it. I have beaten P5 vanilla and Royal, all FF games, DQ 11, and many more. The Tales series is the only jrpg collective I haven’t liked really. Is this up my alley?
Also I bought strikers because P5 vanilla:Royal is quite possibly my number 1 game of all time. I just cannot get into dynasty warrior style games. Even though they did a good job incorporating persona into this one. After 2 hours I stopped and just watch led the story on YouTube

i am setsuna is much more a throw back love to old school rpgs from snes like chrono trigger. was done by an independent company and all in all just a good package. if you want that nostalgia hit definitely worth a look. can always refund on steam pre 2 hours and you'll know by then if you want in or not.
i did not like the latest tales at all. i had no previous experience with tales series in this last one got so much love i gave it a shot. i like anime and all, but that is some Japanese arse anime arse anime with every troupe hitting hard. i gave it a solid 10 hours then just noped out.

The company that made it (Tokyo RPG factory) is an offshoot of Square/enix. They take square developers and assign them to make old school JRPGs as download only exclusives. I am setsuna was literally based solely on Chrono Trigger game play. They have made two other games. Lost sphere and Oninaki. I started lost sphere and haven't finished because I got back into play WoW classic. But I liked it also.
Can't get them on Xbox but you can on PC.
If you are into old school JRPGs this is one of the few companies that are still doing it

Breath of Fire is interesting. Although some of the artwork gets a little too close to furry territory.
Then there are the FF spin-off series: SaGa and Mana.

What is the best FF game? I am very old school but want 3D.

ff6 in my opinion so not 3d.
most will probably say 7, i do not agree. i think 10 and 15 are better than 7.

There are probably better websites out there, but I use Deku Deals to notify me when Nintendo Switch games I want go on sale. You just sign up and search for the games you want. Flag that you want that game, and it'll send you an email when/where that game is on sale.

7,9,10 are the better ones that still have old school turn based combat and are no longer 2D. 10 is the only one of those that has voice acting if you want something that kind of blends old & new.

Well, then play the three trails in the sky games, as well as Zero and Azure. You'll appreciate them all, with your Cold Steel foundation.
