likely not. i’m in the same boat, not a lot of gaming or Gaming Board time these days with kiddos running me ragged.

The swamp isn’t bad, but on the first playthrough, upper blight town was brutally stressful, especially trying to grab everything. Dart shooting counts who see you long before you see them, tons of shite to fall off of, so many ladders that it’s easy to get flanked if you aren’t hyper vigilant, poison, toxin, etc, etc.
I imagine I would feel better on a later playthrough, but as a blight town virgin? shite was stressful
If I had to choose one or the other, I'd pick Blight Town all day everyday over Depraved Chasm & Swamp of Sorrow (5-1 and 5-2) in Demon's Souls. Depraved Chasm, in particular, is the bane of my Souls existence.

Up to this point, I have 100% agreed with the adage that Dark Souls is “hard but fair”. This Ornstein and Smough fight is utter bullshite. Their having the ability to attack through one another as though the other weren’t there isn’t a reasonable mechanic. It’s just bullshite poor game design.
There’s my DS1 rant for today
Eta: Before GIT GUD, I beat them. The amount of pillar kiting just felt cheap and less rewarding than some other fights.

I somehow beat them on my first attempt but in no way was it because I was “gud” lol. I was so overpowered by that point due to souls farming a lot when I was struggling to get through areas. Also my build seemed well suited for them, and I inadvertently beat them both around the same time so I didn’t have to deal with their merged powers bullshite when you kill one of them.
Similarly my first playthrough of Elden Ring saw me beat Malenia on my second attempt. My second playthrough with a brand new character was much tougher. Probably took me 30 attempts. I got to her much quicker and was therefore a much lower level

quote:Yeah, the clipping is really annoying there. But, if you keep them separate, it's not as bad. That was the fight that nearly ended my sl1 run. It's more a battle of luck and attrition than skill.
Ornstein and Smough fight

The issue I ran into is that I was finding it impossible to keep Smough separate from Ornstein, as the latter *constantly* dash speared me through Smough from across the fricking room. Eventually, I gave up on the Leo ring and started playing with keeping Ornstein separate from Smough. Took a few tries, but once I gave in to full pillar kiting bullshite, I was able to take down Ornstein, and then went into uber pillar kiting mode and took out super Smough I'm pretty sure without taking a point of damage.
Just felt meh

Also, out of curiosity, which build did you use for your SL1 run?

Reinforced clubs in various flavors, fap and cloranthy rings, grass crest shield, enough armor to keep light roll
I imposed a few other challenges as well - melee only, no pyro, all bosses, no pendant for Manus, no parry Gywn. Was probably my favorite gaming experience ever.

I legitimately didn’t know that was a thing. Sounds more like a glitch

I keep wanting to put on my FAP, but I need Havels to not go above 25%, and I don’t want to end up having to take it off…

Completed the main story in Arcade Paradise yesterday.
Played some Just Dance with my kids today, then we all cleaned the garage, then some Mario Maker. Oldest is playing Kirby now.

Upper New Londo Ruins is just... not fun. The ghosts are extremely easy to deal with, but are tedious as shite because they like to stay stuck in walls/ceilings/floors, and require a consumable to fight. Just fricking annoying
