I mean are you serious?
PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4/PS5
When is the last time a console had different color options at launch?

Not sure what you mean. This will just make gamers mad at Trump.

Nintendo manufactures in China, Cambodia and Vietnam.

They said they aren’t changing the release date. Is there some sort of Trumpian preorder tariff that I missed?

If nothing else, it seems this disproves the rumor that 7mil hidden units are stockpiled in warehouses waiting to be freed.

My assumption is that they're delaying pre-orders until they can confirm that the $450 announced price tag for the console isn't going to go up based on the tariffs. Don't want folks preordering a console advertised at $450 when it's actually going to cost $550 by the time it releases.

The new tariffs for Vietnam and Cambodia are around 45-50%.
Nintendo moved a lot to those countries to avoid the China tariff.
The preorder has been postponed so that they can figure out what to do before release now.

This, Nintendo is waiting to see what happens with the tariffs and seeing if they'll have to raise the price for US consumers.

Are you high? A delay in preorders and a potential spike on a console that's already controversial isn't pushing anyone to Trump

This delay is reposted all over X. Anybody have an official posting of this?

Nintendo Of America hasn't announced any delay.

It is horrid marketing to do so... Did someone make this up to get political and blame Trump, or is it real?

Nintendo is really dropping the ball with communication. They've gotten tons of heat about the announced price of games and why were they left out of the direct. They haven't responded to that or this delay. The delay looks like it's all coming out through other parties. I'm sure it's legit and they are trying not to distract from the tree house streams the last few days and the live events.

This all makes sense but all of the X posts on this seem contrived with no source.

All's it takes is one person to post a photo of a switch2 and say delay and it is breaking news.

The clue for me this is contrived to be political, is that it is written in a non official way in mostly all the copied X posts. Nintendo would never say, 'due to Trump's tariffs.'

Not sure, but I thought I read the other day it was already a done deal via Vietnam with no tariffs and not Japan? This gave many that think the price is already up with the game prices a calm thyith downith feel.

To be fair Nintendo has never been great at communicating with customers or very consumer friendly

Polygen claimed a source from nintendo said this

quote:

“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions,”

Then Polygen made up the Trump tariffs title.

So who knows but even Polygen admitted people were pissed off at the price.

The corporate Best Buy page:

quote:

Update (April 4, 2025): Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S will not start on April 9, 2025. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025, is unchanged.

Best Buy

FWIW, I don't think the Nintendo of America Twitter account ever announced a pre-order date, so no reason for them to announce a delay.
