The Show can be a difficult game, but you can make it easier with the gameplay sliders. It's the best baseball game I've ever played. I live for baseball video games and I love the sport.
Portal 2 is a puzzle game. It's supposed to be all the rage, but I don't really dig those kind of arcadey games. It's gotten awesome reviews, though. I'd suggest you at least rent it.

I'm definitely getting arkham asylum. The show looks incredible. The thing about baseball games is it's too easy to hit home runs...I love baseball games, so I think that might be the pick

Well, if you love baseball games there's no reason for you not to have The Show. And a head's up to you, when the PSN gets back online, download the Operation Sports rosters from Knight. This guy goes in and fills in all the minor leaguers for you so that you don't get fake names for players in the minors.
ETA: And if you're into a good story game, try Uncharted 1 and 2. They are third person shooters and the stories and visuals are really top knotch. The gameplay is solid, but repetitive. Cut scene, intense action, dick joke, repeat.
