Sad thing is CS used to be much more popular. Then CPL pretty much destroyed the american CS community.

CS was hurt too by being extremely easy to hack. I play from time to time still. Just gotta find a few decent servers that are managed by decent admins.

It is, but the game was the most popular fps game for pc for a long time, and then CPL and in particular Angel Munoz split the communities with Source and shite on the competitive scene

I played in CAL-o like 2 or 3 seasons. All I really got from it was that this guy is an idiot and CAL was terrible at identifying actual hackers.

The guy would walk around like he was the second coming, however I played TFC for 3 tournaments at CPL (1 official / 2 BYOC) and it was a shite load of fun. During one of the events they were following Fatal1ty around while filming MTV's True Life "I'm a Gamer". I ended up meeting him and we can became semi acquaintances and played a few games together. He wasn't nearly of a prick in person as he came across on camera. csb

Rmc Angel was actually very smart, but sponsors pushed him for a new game and he went with it and now here we are.

As far as CAL is concerned. CAL-O was full of cheaters. You would have over 1000 teams in cal-o and it was bound to happen. I was on the cal anti cheat team. It wasn't too hard identifying the hackers, but like you said cal-o was full of them. Once you got to the higher league levels it was bad at all.

The CPL events were fun times. I enjoyed it
to the fullest. Having chinese delivered at 2am while playing games. Good times. Tournaments were a lot of fun to watch.
