One day you guys will realize that all you have to do is buy a good PC right now and in 4 years you won't be dropping another $780 for another PS4/Xbox
This is prob half true, and even less true years ago considering computers get outdated pretty quickly.
I see you guys scrambling to find graphics cards like people were ps5s. I see people asking all the time if their rig is good enough to run x game.
I dont have to ask if my ps5 is good enough to run a ps5 game.

How much does a "good PC" cost roughly?

My PC still gets it done and was built in January 2019. Probably paid around $1K for the parts - but cannot recall exactly.
Is starting to show its age though.
With that being said, there is something inherently different about console gaming versus PC gaming. Sometimes it is nice just to sit on the couch to play games.. which I don't do anymore really, and haven't since I switched to PC close to 10 years ago. There are times I want to play something, but absolutely do not want to be sitting at my computer desk.

This 100%. I have a ~$5500 PC and I still play most games on console. How retarded.
If I have a shite day at work and I'm tired, I promise you I'm not sitting at that PC to play

You can do that on PC.

Not being able to buy a gpu was pretty much a singular event, during covid. It’s never happened before or since.
As for asking if the PC is powerful enough to play a certain game, that’s a weird flex. At least they can ask if their old hardware will work. If you ask if an older console can play a new game, the answer is generally a flat no

Technically yes, but you have to think most people's PC setups are not allowing for this. Also, controller is just way more relaxing than M/KB.

Obviously depends on how you define good. With that said, I just spec'd out a system on PCPP that would beat the brakes off of a PS5 for $846. And that was building from absolute scratch:
PCPartPicker Part List: LINK
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($123.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($35.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Klevv CRAS C910 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($55.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Acer Nitro OC Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB Video Card ($379.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 3000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower Case ($59.97 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $845.90

And when the next generation of consoles come out, you can either just continue playing at slightly reduced settings (because again, this build is significantly more powerful than a PS5), or you could spend about $500, slot in a new GPU, and then beat the absolute brakes off of the PS6 or whatever it might be named.
Plus, you have the universe that is Steam for games. And, you know, you also have a PC to do PC things on

Not to mention you can play Tomb Raider with Laura Croft naked.....so I've heard.

Meh, I don't even consider a comfy-couch type of game that doesn't have controller support.

Probably gonna try out Moonlight to cast my PC to my 77" OLED for couch pc with a controller and see how that is
Where is your PC relative to your TV? You could just drop an HDMI cable. They also do ethernet to hdmi, and wireless hdmi. You have lots of options.

Not close.
Apparently Moonlight has imperceptible latency and is mind bogglingly good, so I have high expectations

My problem is I have no idea how to build a PC. What’s the best prebuilt PC that I can order, plug up, and play on my 77 inch TV?

And I promise we'll help you pick the parts

Not everyone is a pc expert wanting to build their own pc.
So keeping with the thread. Saying console people should just go with a pc and not worry about buying a console doesn’t jive when those people would have to worry about upgrading their pc, or buy a new one.
I guess there being a market for consoles is a weird flex.

You don't have to be an expert. FFS Linus's 8 y/o daughter built one.
It's just the whole thing up front is scary. Once you gain confidence, you're good.

How big is the entire thing when built?
Can you just hire someone to build it for you?

Depends on the case and gpu you buy. There are very small form factor PCs. That efficiently use space to shrink the size.
That is a PC.

Most local PC repair places should be able to be hired to assemble a PC.

The two best options are Steam and Xbox’s app/PC gamepass, but there are tons of options like Epic Games Store, GOG… etc.
You simply purchase through the digital store front and download the game and launch the game through the app.
You can also use keyboard and mouse for controls or continue to use your controller (Xbox controller works best on windows PCs)

I wish you guys would just stick to the “it’s plug and play” argument and stop migrating to other ones. Because every time the other arguments get disproven, you migrate back to the plug and play argument whether it’s relevant or not
