I guess I'm a Sony Pony, but seriously, what game exists that I need to spend $600 on this when I already have a PS5?

I'm not sure I would immediately run out and buy this over a Switch 2, especially if GTA 6 is delayed.

I mean, cool, it's a better machine. I would just like to know why I need it over what I got already. Guess I'll watch their presentation and figure it out, but rn everything points to an easy skip.

Just announced $700 price tag (no disc drive or vertical stand). Available 11/7/24.
Gotta be honest, I don't think the VAST majority of gamers will notice a difference based on the footage they showed.

I see on Twitter/Reddit that some people are scrambling to buy the disc drive now before scalpers buy them all up, but I have to imagine there will be pre-order bundles that include them as well.

Doesn’t feel worth it for the price especially when games are still catering to last gen players. A lot of big AAA are hardly exclusive to current gen consoles

That 700 USD price is too much, especially without a freaking stand and no disc drive.
The 800 Euro price is nuts. That's about about 880 USD.

This is really my issue. Are developers going to take the time to utilize the extra tech in a PS5 Pro when they're already creating versions of a game for the Series S, Series X, PS5, and last gen consoles?
If not, then it seems like a lot of money to spend for a console that is capable of boosting PS4 games, but the way they describe the boost potential is wishy-washy (emphasis included):

Yes, it will. And the current vertical stand they sell will work with the PS5 Pro, since it doesn't come with one.

I figured 700 seemed likely, bad timing to announce the day after apple came out with 1000 dollar phones.
If the pre-orders' aren't a reseller shite-show i'll get one. But i'm not putting much effort, retailers need to make it accessible. Will also have to have a stupid disc drive.
