For someone who doesn't have a console anymore, what's the easiest/cheapest way to play the original Halo for XBox? I'd like to play the campaign on co-op with my son.

Emulator I'm assuming. You can also pick up the remastered series on current xbox's and Steam for computers.

PC has the Master Chief Collection. I think co-op has to be done with separate PCs. No split screen. It can't be done cross-platform, either.

Couch co-op? Get a used XBox One and Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary edition or Master Chief Collection.

Ah, the game that started my love for gaming.

Like others have said, used XBone and the Master Chief Collection. You can play every Halo with that.

You and your son are going to have a great time.

Did this a couple of months ago to get ready for Infinite, great time.

Do you have 2 PCs?

You can do 2 Gamepass subscriptions each for $1 for the first month and cancel. Assuming you had some controllers that would be the cheapest.

Used Xbox ones are actually more than I would have thought right now. Used running for $200+. Probably the shortage of new ones keeping those prices up.

Infinite won’t be anything like the original trilogy. 343 is humping a dead corpse at this juncture.

I remember playing the OG Halo on the XBOX with my girlfriend at the time. I had the green, limited-edition Halo console w/ matching controller.

Getting to the Library and discovering the Flood was a huge WTF moment.

That game was ahead of its time. The graphics and the style looked a lot better then many games that came out like 5 or 6 years later.

Whats your metric for calling it a dead horse? Halo 5 had good sales numbers and online retention of players was pretty solid. As a fan I was disappointed with story but the multiplayer was imo the best in the series.

Halo 5 online is legit. It's still updated. I've had Halo 5 for almost 6 years now and I still play it regularly. It's saved me a lot of money because I don't buy COD every year anymore.

However, Halo 5 campaign was pretty awful.
