If you don't like getting new loot in games, sure.
Wasn't that the whole point of destiny tho

There is no time sink though. The weapons just come as you play and explore. Then they break and 5 more are lying around you.
There is no farming a gjallahorn or stalking Xir weekly for 40 weeks in a row.
Yes, if the 2handed sword from OoT that you got from the big Goron broke, that would suck. There isn't a quest system like that though in botw. Weapons are cheap and everywhere.

I don't know if mentioned already in this thread but some weapons are repairable

But what you're saying isn't entirely true. After completing the Vah Ruta dungeon you receive the Lightscale Trident from the king.
If it breaks (and it will break if you use it like every other weapon) a blacksmith can "repair" it for some resources. So then you either choose to just use another weapon or you choose to farm for flint, a diamond, and a lower class spear (the resources required for the repair), travel back to the Zora city, and get the blacksmith to repair / remake the weapon.
I suspect most players decide that's more trouble than it's worth and just use generic spears they pick up off random monsters. I know that's what I've been doing.
What's puzzling is that this really contradicts the way this weapon is presented. It is Link's reward after retaking Vah Ruta presented by the Zora king in a glowing, silver chest sitting next to him and he tells you it once belonged to Mipha, the Zora champion who died fighting Gannon 100 years ago. Then it shatters 3 battles later while stabbing a jumping Jello mold.
Now, this doesn't ruin the game for me at all. In fact, this is shaping up to be my favorite Zelda of all time, but can't you see how this might be off putting to some players?

Yeah I'm hoping they'll be kind enough to patch the legendary weapons to be at least like the Master Sword.

There was no extra time commitment though. The player was going to complete the dungeon anyways. It was extra.
However I do agree that it breaks way too easily and should have a much higher durability.
But then again, it's a hundred year old peice of wood.

I found them all. Theyre a major distraction because upgrading your armor is a series of mini quests if you don't have the goods

And how ugly are the Great Fairies? They look like Nathan Lane in drag.

Well, at least Zelda has a beautiful arse.

quote:There is if the player wants to continue using that weapon and apparently this is true of all the champion weapons Link receives, though I've only acquired the Lightscale Spear myself. Then, after going through all of the trouble to get the weapon(s) remade it will simply break again 3 battles later.
There was no extra time commitment though.
Some of the story elements simply don't mesh with the weapon durability system. If all weapons, save the Master Sword, are as disposable as Kleenex, why make a big deal at all about any of them?
As you mention, it would help if they patched them to have higher durability. Then maybe a little side quest to get them repaired might feel like it's worth it. (It would even be nicer if this game could be modded like Skyrim to rework the whole durability system but that's obviously a pipe dream.)

Beat the game last night! The music and atmosphere while infiltrating Hyrule Castle was outstanding. Now I'm pumped to find the rest of the 120 shrines as that is one of the most fun things in the game to me (currently at 58 I think).
About the ongoing weapon debate, I'm sort of torn between the two. For the most part, I actually enjoy the durability system and that it forces me to constantly try new weapons. And the way it's set up it is never a problem during combat to change on the fly and hardly slows you down.
On the other hand, every now and then I come across an awesome weapon that I would like to keep around. The meteor rod for example is one of my favorites.
If I had a proposal it would be that you get 2-3 designated weapon slots for protected weapons that won't break, similar to the Master Sword. You can put whatever weapons you want in these slots and even change them out when you are tired of them, but you have to go to a destination like a Goddess Statue to change them out to keep from abusing the system.
This would be a simple fix and would make the random, unique loot finding that much more fun.

Not sure if mentioned already, but someone already went and found all 900 korok seeds, and what you get for achieving the feat is...well...

Yeah, I just spoiled that for me since I know there's no chance in hell I'm getting all of them.
But yeah, wow, what a gift!

at least it doesn't have durability so people can keep it forever
