I couldnt care less about xbox, but I was slightly annoyed that ubisoft promised gameplay footage of Valhalla and we just got another cinematic.

No. You're missing the point. Nobody wanted to play another period game. BF1 was all right (I enjoyed my time with it), but the bread and butter of BF has been modern combat, at least with 3 and 4 being big hits. The insensitivity played a minor role in it's failure, especially since it wasn't actually part of the multiplayer.
So to sum it up, if the online MP had been good, no one would give two shits about the woman with the claw. It became an easy thing to point to when it underwhelmed.
ETA Them not focusing on that co-op part of the game wouldn't have helped them.
