No, the fact that they did not test this and covered it up on launch day with a screening of Halo 5 MP is unacceptable. Then they cut the number of game types in half just for it function at all.
NOw, I have to wait at least 5 minutes to get to a full lobby to have a choice between 3 random game types on random levels and then for it to drop half the players and ALWAYS make the teams uneven.
This is bullshite. This game was not meant to be only functional during Custom games.

They just pulled this game out of the oven before it was ready, the foundation is there but it's under a huge buggy mess. Sending this game out without functional match making system probly killed the community this collection would have had.

You know what I can't play? Halo 2 matchmaking. I thought this game would change that but I was wrong.
Might as well not have come out with this steamy pile of shite. Anybody that bought this game should now know to stay the frick away from Halo 5.
I hope 343 goes under and whoever decided this game was ready for launch gets canned ASAP. Microsoft needs to give this franchise back to Bungie

So much outrage. Maybe it's because I have other games I'm enjoying currently, but some of you fricks are insufferable with the whining.
I'd love to see you deal with a real problem.
If service outages bother you, you might as well hang it up and go play NES because that shite seems to be on the rise.

I buy a game expecting it to work.
I don't know why that such a foreign idea for the apologists in this thread. The matchmaking blows donkey nuts and thats what I bought to play. Considering 343's track record is Halo CE: Anniversary, Halo 4 and now this I think its ok to say they are turrible, not buy another one of their products and encourage others to do so.

A relatively minor service outage is a fricking cataclysm? Okay.
I had fun playing the campaigns while waiting for the issue to be resolved like a rational adult.
I will concede that I don't live and breathe competitive multiplayer like some that post here. Maybe that gives you cause for a temper tantrum.

The only halo I've ever played is mp. It's the only reason I bought this game. I know assholes who took off work, bought the game, and ate addys thinking they'd be playing all nite . 2 weeks later-- still nothing.
I'm not whining, but don't sugar coat it. I do think it's comical at this point though.

Get off your high horse. If you'd rather play the campaign fine, but that doesn't make the people that prefer matchmaking beneath you.
And as I said in my original rant about this game, Halo 2 was made great by the matchmaking as it revolutionized online gaming. To have this component unplayable is stupid as many people are gonna get the game just for it.
frick 343 and all the apoplogists saying how great the campaign or customs are. I bought the game to play matchmaking so I'm gonna be pissed when it doesn't fricking work.

To me the campaigns feel very dated, or at least Halo 2 did. I didn't finish before I got my money back but I remember loving the campaign when I was a kid.

As a day one purchaser of this game, it is frustrating to know that you can have a launch where the bread and butter of a game doesn't function and everyone really downplays it out of fanboyism.
I'm as big of a Halo fan as anyone on this site, but I have not been able to touch multiplayer with any sort of consistent results. This isn't some server issues that MS and 343 are sorting out due to popularity and number of gamers...the matchmaking is broken. Its not some minor service outage.
Ignoring this type of stuff will only lengthen the leash we give them game developers.
