The biggest knock i am reading is the writing. Apparently the story is extremely generic and meh.
Some are saying the main voice actress is not great.
Lot of positives too, though

it doesnt help the Jin was genuinely a strong character with a real sense of what he was struggling with internally.
This story as reported is very generic and been played out alot in different media.
I am still very much looking forward to starting this. Dumbass me started up kingdom come 2 last weekend though so i gotta get through that first

I'm playing on Lethal. The description is misleading as you don't necessarily die in one hit (so long as you have increased your health). Lethal kind of sucks at the beginning of the game, but once you start to unlock some skills and upgrades it's not terrible (although the parry windows seem tighter than in GoT). I may switch to Hard though as I don't necessarily enjoy how quickly fights end (for either the enemy or me

I'm not far enough along in the game to really say whether the game itself is good or bad, but from a visual standpoint, I think it looks a hell of a lot like the first game. So much so in fact, that whatever fancy visual effects that result in the .75% increase in visual fidelity should probably just be removed entirely in order to support the game upscaling to 4k at 60 FPS just like when Tsushima was re-released on PS5. I guess that's what the $800 PS5 pro is for though.
In my view, that's the problem with a lot of these re-releases, especially for ports and remasters of relatively recent games. It highlights the diminishing returns in modern games graphics and makes the "new" games feel objectively worse when they have to run at 30 FPS or at a lower resolution to support the absolutely massive overhead required to make the shadows .5% sharper.
I didn't really appreciate Tsushima until I played the PC port and was able to catch a lot of detail I missed just because I was sitting much closer to the screen.
The child version of the main character has awful voice acting. I can't tell if it's the same person trying to sound like a young kid, a boy trying to sound like a girl, or jus ta really bad child actor.

Kingdom Come 2 is probably a better game. Its my GOTY for sure.
You'll have plenty of time to get to Ghost of Yotei lol

After hearing Jin's english voice compared to his Japanese voice, it was a no brainer to go Japanese with subs for me.

It depends on the game. I cannot play a Yakuza game in English. I have tried, and it felt like I was watching a dubbed foreign film.

I just read that it is the same voice actress - Erika Ishii who sucks. I don't mind the other english VAs but she is so bad I went to Japanese with English subs pretty quickly.

I turned the Miike mode on today and holy crap it’s so much more blood. First guy I killed, he laid there sputtering blood out of his chest for several seconds
