Completed the final battle vs Gannondorf tonight. What a great last phase!
I did this a couple of nights ago. I really enjoyed the series of fights for the final encounter. I was just disappointed that there wasn't a dungeon to transverse.
I got a little sad last night. I thought I would beat the game, then go back to doing the quests that I hadn't completed. I was surprised when I found myself having little motivation to complete these other quests, especially ones where I need to collect a number of items. I think I'll finally have to put this game down for a while for the first time since May.

I left off a bunch of quests and didn't find or max out a lot of armor stuff. I'm assuming the DLC, if some ever is released, will have a Master Mode, at which point I'll start it back up and try to 100% it.
Someone on the board started listing off Wii games, and now I'm starting to play through the Super Mario Galaxy games.

I have Wind Walker on the WiiU but haven't ever played it since the GCN.

Same. I had started to work on knocking out the rest of the depths but it really felt more of a chore than a game. Especially knowing that there's not really much down there and what is there is mostly repetitive.
Maybe if they do a DLC they could add something more down there.

We need proper sky island dungeons.

The sky Islands may have been the most disappointing aspect of the game for me other than the globes and the Thunder islands. Oh, and getting to the wind temple was cool, but it feels like I did that years ago.
Most of the sky areas are the same thing over a different part of the map.

So what was y'all's favorite part of the game? I think my favorite part so far was approaching the Fire Temple (not the temple itself but the approach after diving into Death Mountain). It was my first time in the Depths and I knew frick-all about the Lightroots. And to turn a corner and see this huge ancient building waiting in the darkness with all the heat distortion was freaky as hell. Trying to ration the very few brightbloom seeds I had and wondering how I was gonna get in. Masterfully done.
Although I still haven't been to Lurelin, Eventide, Faron, Akkala, or Gerudo outside the quest route.

100% was Ganon and the actual story itself. Botw had a decent story, but finding the memories and figuring everything out was annoying along with Calamity Gannon not really being anything other than some big bad thing you had to beat.
This one had a much more fleshed out story, with great cut scenes that made Ganon feel like a threat again. That made the final sequence of the game much more fulfilling. Oh, and I really loved the lightning temple. Had more of an old school dungeon feel.

I wish the Yiga were a legit threat and not a punchline.

The approach to the wind, fire, and water temples were all fun. Loved the music. The memories for the story were all a lot better, and the variety of enemies as well.

I played in handheld mode for the whole thing and the volume was down most of the time. I missed out on most of the music that wasn't in the cutscenes.

Agree. Totk made botw feel like a rough draft. Defeating ganondorf was a bit easy, the armored silver lynels were probably a tougher enemy. The whole ending and story was great though.

I go back and forth on the story. This one really could have benefitted from some linearity.
The memories in BotW were all fairly self-contained and nothing happening in them was directly impacting the present-day story. I appreciated them more as basically eulogies of these great warriors.
Whereas with TotK, seeing them out of order can stunt pretty much any emotional impact they might have since it's really one unified narrative, and the one big spoilery thing can be deduced long ahead of time. And once that story is resolved and you see the impact on the present-day, the continued actions of a ton of characters (especially Link) stop making sense whatsoever.
I know the game gives you the tools to view them in the correct order (which I mostly did), but I would've preferred the linearity be enforced, with certain parts only unlocking after certain things are done. It's like the one thing in the game I would have forced players to do in the "correct" order.

That could have been accomplished by finding the Tear locations and the videos play in order as you encounter them.

For those contemplating another playthrough, an article in my newsfeed made the following suggestions:
* Outside of any Shrines that require it, no Ultrahand for convenience. This would obviously eliminate the very popular Zonai airbike as an option.
* No fast travel between shrines/towers

That just doesn't sound like any fun.

I kind of wish I did this on my original playthrough.

I've been forcing myself to explore areas that Hero's Path indicates that I haven't visited yet. I've discovered a couple of Taluses up in the NW mountains that I hadn't found before.

I tried this on my 2nd botw playthrough. While it's a not a big deal earlier on in the game it became a really big hassle and I had to start fast traveling.

I don’t mind that. I’m also glad that this is the end of open world hyrule in this form. Wouldn’t mind a return to a more streamlined game, as fun as these last two were
