I have absolutely loved everything about this game, but I had my first disappointment last night. The Fire Temple. The report that they were going back to old school dungeons was way overblown. My main complaint is that there are only a few weak Constructs scattered throughout. It's too easy, especially when the puzzle isn't all that difficult.

Fire Temple is next on my list. I finally got the full Zonai Armor set and wrapped The Dragon's Tears questline, so that took me a couple of days off of my previous path.

Heads up that the puzzle to unlock the Sahasra Slope Tower is garbage. The game not only leads you in the wrong direction but also nudges you into doing the wrong thing. Bad translation? I don't know. Horrible design in any case. Had to look up the solution after 30 minutes of fruitless searching--first time I've looked up anything non-retroactively for this game and hopefully the last.

Was pretty straightforward to me

Yeah, I don't recall having an issue with it.

Made sense to me. I mean they’re not just gonna tell you straight up what to do lol.

"Bottom of the hill" took me all the way down that gentle slope past three or four enemy camps (which I initially thought was a good thing since most of these little side quests involve fighting at some point). When I didn't find any caves that way I ran around that entire area at the base of the hill. Never occurred to me to just walk around the corner from the tower.

And mushrooms had frick-all to do with the eventual solution.

I'm not saying they should tell me what to do, but in this case I think it would've been flat-out better to just say nothing instead of dropping these huge red herrings.

frick Billson. Useless bird.

I've only found two areas that I would consider "old school dungeons." Under the castle where I'm traversing right now heading to what I think is the final boss battle, and the dungeon under Lookout Landing.

Some of the caves and wells are also more like a traditional dungeon.

I usually completely forget that I have them until they come and save my arse in battle.

More often than not, I'm afraid my fairies serve to resurrect me when I only have 2/3 of the Glide Suit on and forget that I swapped the head piece out for the Snowquill headdress to avoid losing hearts at altitude and invariably pancake myself while skydiving.

Just finished the main story missions.

Take gloom heart restoring food with you to the final boss. I didn't have any.

Is this the area where you have to destroy a million rocks to get through, or is there an actual dungeon type place down there?

Yes and it felt like a dungeon to me.

The demon statue that trades stam or heart pieces for the other is also down there.

Yeah, I agree. I was just making sure I wasn't missing something extra.

Some great defensive gear in that labyrinth.

I think that's how they handled the "traditional dungeon" complaints. They made some optional dungeons people could explore if they wanted to scratch that itch, but kept the shrines and boss areas similar to BOTW.

I have no problem with this.

My biggest complaint with Fire Temple, other than lack of enemies, was it felt like I was in the lobby of the temple the entire time. I found the last thing, and my first thought was "that's it?".

Yeah that one definitely felt short. By comparison, the wind temple felt quite long to me. I guess the time spent getting to it added to that feeling.

I haven't done the Gerudo temple yet, but wind temple was my favorite. I include the journey up to it part of temple. It was probably the closest to an old school feel with figuring out the best way up and battling the constructs on the way.

Water temple has been the worst to me, as it took 5 mins to beat and the boss was way too easy.

Second phase of the Muckrock boss at Water Temple was such a massive PITA.

What kind of improvements do the Sage's Wills make on the companion spirits' abilities?

lol this game...

For whatever reason I ignored talking to Robbie for much of my playthrough (other than the camera quest early on)...he annoyed the shite out of me in BOTW even though he's the source of some cool shite.

I've completed a ton of side quests/adventures and decided to go talk to him. It's at this point that I realized I've played the majority of the game without the travel medallion, hero's path, or shrine sensors.
