I had some huki-buki Pacific islander skirt and that was it till I bought from the vendor on the surface in Lookout Landing.

Funny part, to me, is I was going to reply to Lew but then you showed up

My only gear purchase so far was a frost resist shirt from the Ruto so I'd have full resistance with that and the pants. Was totally worth it.
Also, if y'all explore in depths you can find some pretty cool "mining gear" that lights up the area directly around you (and larger area based on how many pieces of the set you are wearing).
ETA: Only completed the wind temple so far, completely by accident.

I’ve reached the water temple so far. I haven’t gone further but I at least have the fast travel registered. That was a fun trip getting there. The surprise of that altitude was super cool.

i finally broke and got the zelda oled switch. i had still been rocking my OG switch and just the battery life upgrade alone has been nice for playing this while dealing with kids

I’ve been dying a bit more too. The enemy stun threshold to knock them off balance is higher than in BotW. That’s cool. The game really wants you to use creative means and strong fuses. Now that I know this, I quite like it.

I got my junior Rito escort but I have zero idea how to get into the eye of that motherfricker.
Gave up after about 10 mins and went back to Hyrule Field depths because I realize I never unlocked the camera or the Compendium. Completed the bit in the Upside-Down to get the statue photo.

That's my #1 priority over pretty much everything else. Unlock shrines and towers within reason.
I got my world rocked early on when I tried to reach the one south of Hyrule Field. Now that I have the paraglider, I may try coasting in from Lookout Landing tower.

I also only found cold pants on the sky island. My first tunic was the glide tunic which is basically a wind suit which is pretty awesome

Need to upgrade mine as well. Kids have been complaining to mom that dad’s not sharing

Use the boats. I honestly had no idea I was heading to a temple

Clearly I haven't monkeyed around in the area enough, because I have no idea what those are. I'll root around a little more tomorrow.
The best thing about this game is also the worst thing - at any given moment, there about a hundred different things I want to do/see/explore. I want to go back to the starting sky islands and re-cover the area.

Spending all my time in the depths on a few play sessions has absolutely devastated my food supply. Where’s the fastest place to stock up? Lol
Finally got around to knocking out a temple. Definitely still feels a little like a divine beast dungeon but I guess since that was my expectation, it didn’t feel as disappointing. Wind temple down.

Man it really felt more like a traditional dungeon to me.
Now that you've beaten a temple, you should go below Lookout Landing in the shelter. Should be a more traditional dungeon experience there for you.

FYI, there is currently a glitch you can use to duplicate any materials you might have... but it will probably be patched soon. If you want to use it, you'll probably want to turn off automatic game updates immediately. Other than that, all you need to pull it off is two of the same type of bows, one of whatever material you want to duplicate, and an ability to tap the "+" button quickly.
