Over the past couple of years I can’t play Xbox anymore nothing holds my attention. Last year I downloaded stardew valley and put almost 200 hours between my farm and my multiplayer farm. This weekend I picked it back up and got a couple hours on it and hooked again.

Anyone else played this game? Has any recommendations like this game?
It’s so stupid and boring in theory…….. but it’s the most relaxing game I’ve played in a very long time.

It is just a nice chill game to unwind with almost zero stress. I guess if you try to get everything done in year 1 you can add some stress but if you go with the 2 year plan, it is pure chill.

I have Extended Stardew set up but I haven't played it yet. Much bigger map, more quests, more NPCs, more everything. I just haven't been in the mood to bury myself in the Valley yet.

Skull mine can be a little stressful, but yeah, that's about it.

My wife (no pics) has sunk a stupid amount of time into it. I'm talking probably 1,000 hours. Multiple 100% playthroughs. She forced herself to put it down a few months ago.

I haven't touched it. No telling how easily I might get hooked too and I don't wanna go down that path

For those who might not know, this game was developed entirely by one guy. The sprites, animations, script, backgrounds, music, SFX, he did it all. Took him five years if I recall correctly. Truly a labor of love for this dude. I think he's developing a new game right now.

Yeah
Pretty wild it was made by one guy. I think the story is that he graduated college and couldn’t find a job. So in the meantime of waiting for interviews he started to make the game.

He is working on his follow up game. HAUNTED CHOCOLATIER

it’s about someone who inherits a run down chocolate factory. You have to fix it up, do quest around the town and fight some spooky ghost

I've put probably 500 hours into this game over the years, and am currently in the midst of a new farm. It's wild how fast it eats time.

Despite all that time there are still some things I haven't achieved that I think I want to do this time around.

I must be the only person in the world who thought this game was extremely stressful.

There was so much shite to do on the farm, around town, in the mines, etc. and racing around trying to do everything before nighttime stressed me the frick out.

I find this is primarily a thing with people who try to get everything done in the first year. Based on the timing of the "evaluation" (to avoid spoilers), the core game was intended to take two in game years, with you then exploring a lot of the late game content after that.

I think he’s really rich now

I would rather support a shadowy multinational big game conglomerate that forces kids with misguided video game design dreams to work 90 hours a week for low wages than help one guy get rich doing something that I probably could’ve done

I've always been a harvest moon kinda guy. This sounds similar, though I have never played it. Is it better than harvest moon?

It's very similar to harvest moon. Almost an homage to those games. If you like harvest moon you'll like stardew valley

I used to love Harvest Moon and got into Stardew Valley as a result. I can say this is better than any Harvest Moon game I've ever played. Some surprisingly deep gaameplay.

I took the plunge on this game late last year, and I've really enjoyed it. It's a great mix of tasks and exploration. I still need to cook all the recipes, ship every item, and craft every item.

I feel like I'm kinda close but it could still take a while. Every Queen of Sauce is a recipe I already have. I guess I need to give more birthday gifts and increase heart levels with everyone to get the remaining recipes. If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears.

Also, the way the music matches the seasons is amazing. I think fall has the best music. It actually makes me think about my own life

Billions of gold in a few weeks? Unless you heavily abused a duplication exploit, you're thinking of the wrong game

According to Steam, I've got about 250 hours in, and I would ballpark that I've made about 20M gold, having purchased every "expensive" item in the game before Patch 1.5, which I still haven't dug into. But to paraphrase the old chestnut: the difference between 20M gold and 1B gold is about 1B gold.

200 hours split between 3 farms isn’t that much

I started playing this after watching HillHome on YouTube.

I’ve got 73 hours in on my first farm. Working on Qi’s quests. It’s definitely my chill, relax and drink beers alone game

I started playing this game when my oldest was 4. He used to watch me and tell me to do this and do that

He’s now 7 and we’re playing together in addition to his own play through.

I don’t even want to know how many hours we’ve sunk into this game.

You can make like a million/week with just ancient fruit. Not even including the tropical island farm.
