I figured Battletoads would make this list, so I’ll go to my second most frustrating game:

Home Alone

frick that game

The only game I beat as a kid was Contra thanks to the code. I was on a high for a month straight telling all of my buddies that I beat that game.

Castlevania 1. I wanted to badly, especially after beating 2, but I never could do it.

Watch videos of how to get past the corridor, Death and Drac.

Castlevania 3 on NES is my proudest gaming achievement alongside platting Sekiro.

As for the one that I can’t even come close to beating without savestates…

Ghosts ‘n Motherfricking Goblins.

I beat all of the megaman games back then. Recently tried them again on the WiiU and was like, JFC how the hell did I do this?

I got to the very end of Zelda 2 and never could beat it.

Did Duck Hunt ever end?

I remember playing round after round. Some being right up against the damn TV.
Felt like there was no ending.

Marble Madness nearly drove me to madness.

It is the one game i can vividly remember spending hours and hours frustrated playing, even as a kid.

Dang I forgot about that one. I don't think I could ever even beat the third level, if I was lucky enough to get that far.

I could never seem to deactivate all the bombs in time underwater. I think I beat that part maybe once. Never did beat that game. I did beat the Arcade game one that starts in the burning apartment building.

For some reason I never had an issue with the underwater level even thought it's always mentioned. Yeah, I'd likely lose a couple of turtles in the process but I could usually do it, and then rescue them in the next level.

Did anyone ever beat Maniac Mansion? I know there was a PC version, but the one I played was on NES. I've never been able to do it regardless of the characters that I choose.

Rygar - I got to the final level but didn't finish it. This one was made even more difficult by the fact that the game was long and there was no password or save ability - you had to beat it all in one sitting or leave the game paused and hope no one touched it.

Castlevania - Like someone else said, I beat Castlevania 2, but could never finish 1.

Ninja Gaiden - Made it to the final level but could never beat it.

I never could, but my best friend did. I think he said they had a couple different endings as well which would be kinda advance for NES. I never saw the endings though. I sucked at that one

Same. I beat that part so few times that I don't even remember what comes after.
