What am I missing?? I love games like Uncharted (both of them). I can see my player, there is a lot of shooting, but it is not all you do.

I find in FP shooters, I am just shooting at enemies constantly, I can't see my player (which aggravates me for some reason), and I get killed a lot and have to constantly repeat shite.

I don't know, I've played a few, but it has been a few years since I've played one. Is MW2 that good.

Indulge me and try to explain why I should give MW2 a try. It must be fun given the amount of people playing. BTW I'm 33 and really grew up on Atari and NES, but I have been gaming my whole life.

it does have a third person mutiplayer mode fwiw. and I've never really been a fan of third person because the aiming always seems clunky. to each his own.

If you want the greatest multiplayer experience to date, you should buy MW2.

I have never been a fan of FPS's either. Modern Warfare is the only one I have ever enjoyed. That being said, I have played COD4 Modern Warfare at minimum once a week since 2007. I have played MW2 every day since Tuesday and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Put away your prejudice about FPS's and give it a try. You're missing out!

I am thinking this. I have also never played a multiplayer game online. (Yes, I am kind of old school). Please let me know hat makes this so fun. Aren't you just playing against random internet strangers?? Shooting at each other?? I am sure there is more to it.

Please let me know. Any and all opnions are appreciated.

Nope that is pretty much it. All they did was tack on a ranking/leveling system to make players feel like their e-peen is getting stroked.

You and I are in the same boat. I grew up gaming, starting with the atari. Ive never been a fan of 1st person shooters nor online play.

Where a lot of you would prefer playing a couple hours a night/week gaming online with MW2, Id rather put 100+ hours into an RPG without having to hassle with the online issues like cheaters, lag, etc. I am playing Dragon Age right now and loving it and am looking forward to Mass Effect 2. Buying MW2 doesnt appeal to me at all with the extremely short campaign and online play that I prefer not to do in the first place.

I am not knocking anybody because everyone has different preferences, but where some of you claim this is the best game out there to date, it probably wouldnt crack my top 50. Again, thats just me being a fan of different types of games.

If this isn't one of the best games you've ever played, then I question your manhood. frick slaying dragons. I want to put a bullet in someones head followed by my nut sack in their face.

We are similar in a sense. I am not really a fan of "true" rpg's. (Final Fantasy, Dragon Age, etc.). I really enjoyed Oblivion and that is probably the only game I have ever played for more than 100 hours. It was still a third person game with fighting etc.

Anyway, I might give this a try. I have a feeling I am in between you and some of the hardcore FPS fans. While I think I will always enjoy games like Oblivion, Uncharted, and Fallout 3 more, I might enjoy this also. We'll see.

I will rent it for the single player. I HATED the multiplayer. I like a more tactical game where people actually work as a team.

As far as the best game out to date... NO WAY

You can and do play against random strangers, but you can also play with online friends. There are several different game objectives to choose from. Google Modern Warfare Team Deathmatch, Domination, Headquarters, Search and Destroy, Capture the Flag, Cage Match, Demolition, etc. for more info.

There is also the ranking system and un-locks that give you tangible goals to shoot for(no pun intended). And just when you think you've accomplished everything, there is Prestige Mode (again, google is your friend).

If nothing else, rent it or borrow it just to try it out.

Try this website for some basic info.

This is my opinion. Keep in mind, I do not like the COD MW multiplayer at all.

Just Recently...

Crysis
Fallout3
The new Batman
Dragon Age

I prefer Team Fortress 2 over MW for that matter.

I don't think a "realistic" game should be a run-n-gun physics defying death match. I think a run-n-gun game should be futuristic or absurd like TF2.

IMO a "realistic" game should actually be realistic... slower and more tactical with a focus on teamwork.

I, too, hate FPS games like Halo and Doom. RTS games are much more to my liking because I can slow down and strategize. Some prominent gamer once said "FPS games are for people who don't like to think and RTS are for people who don't like to die."
