Agreed, that's part of the reason I'm not butthurt about losing the game. 90% of sports titles, buying them every year is a waste of money (especially if EA is involved)
Took me awhile to realize that

onestly, this lawsuit is good for the consumer anyway. EA was making the same piece of shite every year and charging you $60 for it. Now you can just hold on to last year's version and get an updated roster off the internet.
yeah but I mean you're missing out on cool new innovative features EA was making like, decorate your dorm room and stuff.

I find the whole thing silly. They look nothing like the players other than a jersey number amd skin color
+1 on this

I would be absolutely cool with this notion if they had it out on next gen consoles already when it got cut off.

BTW, I find it funny that some of you are acting like commies and socialist determining that them getting a scholly is enough for them. What if someone wanted to put a cap on your earning potential while making money off your likeness for something? You would be OK with that?
That's not it at all, but amazing the argument that these guys are disadvantaged when other students are graduating with between 20-50k of debt is fallacious.
Contract requires two things a good or service and renumeration for that good or service. Call it what it is, these guys sign no compete contracts, they play football and they are remunerated with the cost of an education. They want a bigger slice of the pie, what's stopping them is the NCAA.
You think EA is hurt in this deal, they will just keep spinning copies of the same game and now the players, NCAA and consumers come out on the short end of the deal.
You know EA will spin a new game, they may have to go to each conference individually for a team logo, but this is far from the end of college football games and it's probably going to be the players who get cut out of the process. Because at the end of the day, all that matters is that your computer generated team sports your favorite logo.

The greedy players opted for about 200 dollars and in return EA is not making any more games
Players got it put into their heads that they were going to be making big money on this lawsuit. They are getting crumbs and we still don't have any college sports games.

No but apparently you are to miss the point I was making. You act that just because they get a scholly to play football that they should also be fine with EA making money off of their likeness. The two have nothing to do with one another but in your mind it does.
Your logic is flawed
Sorry but your bullshite line of thinking is why we in this nation cannot have good things anymore, our whole nation has litigated itself into a whiny arse corner. I blame it on that bitch who won money from McDonald's for spilling hot coffee on her cooze all those years ago.

That's hardly their likeness though. Their name isn't used, their face isn't used, their stats aren't used, etc.
There was an LSU lineman years back who had a mullet as a freshman. Yes, a legit mullet. And guess what, the character in the game, with his same number, also had a mullet. Height and weight were also really close, but it was hardly the players likeness.

We can only hope the NFL ends its contract with EA. EA Madden is the shittiest video game and it literally gets worse every single time i play it and the game play gets worse every single year.

Not to sound like an arse, but the problem is that you and others keep buying it.
Same with COD.

Make a NCAA game, keep up with what players are on each game, use this settlement as a starting point, pay the players when they get out of college.
Maybe there are flaws with that idea, but wouldn't it be fun if it could be that simple?
Also, the worst part about this is that they did it the same year that the new generation consoles came out. If they could make one game for the new console and I could just update the roster every year I really wouldn't care until the next console came out.
