Are you seriously that dumb? Of course EA doesn't give them a scholly. The school gives it to them. I never implied EA gave it to them?

I just don't understand. College athletes are given so much just to play a sport they enjoy. Tuition, food, all the free gear, national exposure. That more than rewards them for their time. But none of this happens without the fan base, which purchases a majority of these games. Fans lose on this one for no reason

If you put the numbers to it, a college scholarship is worth more than what Minor League players make in baseball.

No but apparently you are to miss the point I was making. You act that just because they get a scholly to play football that they should also be fine with EA making money off of their likeness. The two have nothing to do with one another but in your mind it does.

Your logic is flawed.

EA doesn't come out and say it's them obvisouly but I guess it's a huge coincidence that their height, weight, jersey number, etc all match up with the actual players.

How so? The university licensed it's logos and such to EA unlike the players. The university gets paid for that also unlike the players.

I don't ever remember all the stats matching the players

I thought that was the reason everyone made their own custom roster

I didn't think about the license thing with universities and they wouldn't turn down free money

People make adjustments to the players to make it more accurate and add the names but even EA allowing that to happen is questionable and is part of the lawsuit. It doesn't absolve EA from liability is the players argument.

"QB #9" on LSU a few iterations ago was pretty solid. I won a few heisman a with him. That alone should end any debate about player likeness.

lol yes it is.

EA totally got busted using the real players as the templates via company emails. Right up until the game was released many players would still have the real names.

Download custom roster updates in NCAA 14.

Voila, there's NCAA 15.

Unless they allow you to fully customize conference schedules, you can't do much in Dynasty mode.

Yea I mean why can't you go to work for free just because you love it?

If I were a player, especially one that never makes it to the NFL, I sure as hell would want to get paid by someone making money off of my likeness.

Yea cus that full ride scholly is nothing. Not to mention, all the other perks, trips, insurance, bowl game goodie bags. Maybe EA should have just given them all a free copy and called it a day.

Eric Dickerson got a trans am, Reggie Bush got a house, Cam Newton got $200k, and SMU had a payroll. Tutors, training at top facilities with top trainers but one kid says he goes to bed hungry and everyone loses their freaking minds.

All this was is the NCAA wanting a bigger cut.

None of that has anything to do with EA and the NCAA franchise.

BTW, I find it funny that some of you are acting like commies and socialist determining that them getting a scholly is enough for them. What if someone wanted to put a cap on your earning potential while making money off your likeness for something? You would be OK with that?

I do agree that the school giving them a scholly and the other NCAA approved perks that come with that in exchange for playing is a very fair deal for a student athlete. I don't agree however that an outside company who has no ties to the university or NCAA has the right to make profit off of their likeness while giving them nothing in exchange for it.

That's hardly their likeness though. Their name isn't used, their face isn't used, their stats aren't used, etc.

EA allowing people to customize characters is a part of it?

Looks like some of you have a better feel for this case than the ea lawyers. Maybe you should go tell them not to settle now.

I honestly had no idea there was this many ppl on this board who felt like the players should just get over it, such bullshite

Interesting that in every other NCAA/benefits thread almost every poster sides with the players but now that their taking away our video game it's "Ermagerd these players are all greedy, selfish assholes"

Honestly, this lawsuit is good for the consumer anyway. EA was making the same piece of shite every year and charging you $60 for it. Now you can just hold on to last year's version and get an updated roster off the internet.
