I'm just laughing at how quickly they threw Connor under the bus.

Ezio gets three games and Connor is quickly forgotten.

Not that I mind, Connor was a whiny prick.

I just can't understand how people still have faith in this series after 3.

2 and Brotherhood were so much fricking fun, and now it's turning into a COD deal where they spit out games as fast as they can.
Thats exactly why. They had 3 really good games compared to 1 bad one. And honesly it wasnt terrible. I enjoyed the side missions, exploring and the naval battles. So there were some bright spots.

Hopefully they abandon the whole Desmond dynamic this time.

you can keep the assassins/templars rivalry, but just keep the plot in the past.

did anybody really enjoy the sequences set in the present?

not at all, i just tolerated them because they were short. I especially hated completing all the missions, beating the game, then realizing I had to do 30 more minutes of Desmond crap.

I didn't mind them at all. You can't just have this guy who gets hooked up to a machine to wander along in the past and not deal with what's happening in present time. You might as well leave out the animus altogether.

that's fine by me.

all the quasi-religious shite with the artifacts of eden and the ages long conflict between assassins and templars is secondary to gameplay for me.

I'd rather focus on the characters of the era and whatever conflicts are going on. If it is subtext to some templar plot, fine. I just don't really care about the present or desmond.

They should've had each game as a supposed standalone, then the final game of the series reveals that you are playing a guy playing his favorite assassin video games and it's like assassinception and they close the series on that note

I'd prefer they take their time with entries, because it is obviously watered down.

The mystical elements of the story with the apocalypse and the pieces of eden always fell flat, IMO.

I was more interested in the historical side of it.

I may be alone.

I'm not clamoring for a yearly entry, I don't know how you got that out of what I was saying.

Well before your edit, it sounded as if you wanted to ignore the story and just kill a lot of people, which is what I do with any COD game.

Hence MY edit.

I don't think AC would work in an eastern country. Other than a few tertiary character references there haven't even been mentionings of East Asia in AC games.

Surely there must be an apple sitting in China or Japan. I think an assassin group set up as ninjas would work great. Like a new tenchu. And I'd love for a new or rebooted tenchu game too.
