Rumor: CoD might move on to a subscription model in 2022, but not like you'd think...

rumor has it that the subscription won't be pay-to-play like Wow or LoL, but more like a TV streaming app model. no word on price, except for a $70/year with access to the yearly release CoD along with the previous iterations. essentially, you load up the CoD app, and you select among the various iterations of CoD just like you would netflix for shows/movies.

again, it's all just a rumor, but here is TheGamingRevolution with a new video talking about it...

I miss the days where we paid $60 for a finished game

Why would I trust subscription as a service to a product that hasn't shown to be finished the last 3+ years or so?

Just another reminder that I don't own anything in my steam library other than licenses

“Games as service” is the worst thing to ever happen to gaming.

Hopefully it's required to play Warzone to get rid of the cheaters.

It's the equivalent of buying the new COD every year.

Son of a bitch I have too many subscriptions I'm paying for already. I'm not adding fricking COD.

I feel ya but those days are pretty much gone. It's a foolish business model at this point. Why sell something when you can rent it for more money?

They're ruining the grading industry for sure. Pokemon is rolling fine, fanatics is going to frick up the sports cards world, and Hasbro has no idea what to do with WOTC

Interesting model. On the one side, it is a killer deal for anyone coming in new to CoD. $70 gets you access to multiple games in the first year.

After that it will suck. You will never own those games and they will slightly keep increasing the price yearly.

Will not be a bad deal for the dedicated CoD gamers who buy the game yearly though.

Warzone will probably never go into it.

How many people actually keep playing an older COD when a new one is released? I know I would be dying for a new one if I spent an entire year playing the old one.
