Question about the Witcher games....

Watched the Netflix series and thought it was great. I've never played any of the games but want to. I know there's 3, should I play all 3 or are any of them that are bad?

I’ve only played 3 and IMO it’s the best game ever made. Can’t say enough about the experience I had with it
1 is pretty outdated and only for PC I believe and I’ve heard 2 is good but isn’t the greatness that 3 is

Thank you for asking this question, I too finished the Netflix series and wanted to learn more about the Witcher world. Witcher 3 is part of Game Pass in case you have an Xbox.

Play it.
It is not only a Top 5 game of the past decade, but for me, it is a Top 5 game all time.
It almost rivals HL2 for me.

I bought it a couple years back and spent about 30 minutes playing it but at the time I just couldn't get into it.

I was just like you, hated the game. Took me about 10hrs to get into it.
Think I know have 210hrs played.

Yep, Blood & Wine is basically a new game. They could have marketed as a "new" game and I wouldn't have said a word.
The DLC before that wasn't bad, forgot the name, I really enjoyed that story.

I have never read a Witcher Book or seen the show.
I picked up Witcher III: Wild Hunt because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It’s an amazing game and does a pretty good job helping me understand this universe.
While I’m pretty sure there is plenty of stories and lore to it, I didn’t feel lost or left out.

3 is considered one of the best games ever made. 2 is worth playing at some point as well, but it's not really critical that you play 2 before 3.

I just started 3 this week. Played all the way through 2 and thought it was great. Never played 1 because it's PC only.

I can't even began to describe the controls and mechanics, maybe "punching in a dream"? It is a frustrating nightmare.

4 full playthroughs of W3 and won't hesitate to start my 5th as soon as I'm off this creative mode building kick on Ark.
I don't even think it's much of a debate that W3 is top 5 greatest games ever, and it is unquestionably my #1 of all time.
Just play it. You will not regret. I suggest doing the main quest line and then working on the "Blood & Wine" expansion before finishing with "Hearts of Stone" expansion. The HoS quest line grabbed me like no other game ever has.
