The first few circles I either move with the circle or I loot and eat the outside circle. The final few circles I try to get in a good position to pick off people coming in to the circle.

It's all about luck of the circle really

*Generally* the best strategy is to land somewhere that yields good loot in the first few minutes, locate somewhere relatively center circle for the first two or three circles, then play the edge of the circle from there. But so, so much changes depending on how many players are alive, how much cover there is, how many buildings are in late in the game.
Usually you want to move into the last circles with enough time to have cover and not take damage, while not so early that you are still exposed from all sides before the circle is to your back. When exactly is that? God only knows.

And you can do all that, the circle can still frick you. So theres that too.

I played this game at my buddy's house the other weekend and got killed about 7 times without ever killing anyone. It was really frustrating. This one time, I got beat to death by a white dude in tighty whiteys. Neither of us had weapons because we dropped in a shite location. I followed him for about 3 mins hoping to get a good hit on him, and I swung and missed resulting in him noticing me and just knocking me right out. I was so mad haha
