did you add the initial 500 for the phone price to your current contract price?
No, there was no initial 500. I did the 199 for a contract price. What I calculated is out of pocket cash for two years.
Basically, Next is 0% financing over 18 or 24 months, but it allows you to upgrade after 12 or 18 months, respectively. You either pay out the phone, or get a free upgrade and continue paying on the next (get it Next) phone. It looks attractive because you are paying a cheaper per month price for service until you want to upgrade your phone. If you buy the phone outright (ebay or something), then you can come out ahead. This is strictly getting the phone from ATT and upgrading whenever you are eligible.

I meant the 500 for the 3 phones total (subsidized prices)

if you are going with a phone that you can get for less than retail pricing, then it makes sense to buy it outright
if you are getting an iphone, which you aren't gonna find many discounts on, its best to take the 0% financing
ie. this benefit is more friendly for nexus and some other android users

question:
do real estate agents list homes using the total SF or just the living area?
i'm looking at homes for sale in my neighborhood to try and gauge the possible selling price of mine, and it seems like most of the homes are being listed using the total square footage instead of the living
that 400 SF difference weighs huge on my estimates

I've seen it listed both ways.
It should at least say the living. Normally, that's what list price is based off of.
