It’s definitely an improvement over the little joycons that come with the switch. I don’t remember mine being $80 tho.

Not worth it imo, but I actually like the joycons so

I do have two wireless controllers also but they mostly just collect dust.

I don't know about $80... but you can buy it today on Walmart's website for $59 with free shipping.

When I play the Switch, I tend to use it in docked mode. The Pro controller works great for that.

There are some gimmicky features that the joycons can incorporate from time to time, but I generally prefer the controller.

It's worth it in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of the joycons and the Pro controller just feels solid and well-built in your hand. The battery life is very good on them and I feel like I have better control over just about every game when I'm using it over the joycons.

Just be aware - If you want to be able to turn on your switch 2 with the controller you need the switch 2 pro controller. The original pro controller will work, but it will not wake your system. Very lame move by nintendo.

If you are looking for a pretty solid 3rd party controller 8bitdo makes pretty good ones. 8Bitdo link LINK

Totally agree on this one. It's one of the big reasons I'm considering getting a Switch 2 Pro controller, but I'm also debating not getting one just on principle.

I like the pro controller for switch 2. Very lightweight and the charge lasts a long arse time. Nintendo has great battery technology

I greatly prefer the Switch 1 pro controller over the 2. I find the handle buttons distracting. And the switch 2 controller plastic feels a little bit less grippy.

But ya, the Switch 1 pro controller is not able to power up the 2, but other than that I would strongly recommend it while playing docked. The joycon grip is awful and the Switch pro controller feels fantastic, huge upgrade.

Agreed here. The handle buttons you can program are a bit weird when you pick it up, but then you quickly forget about them once the games start. And yeah, it does feel a little more flimsy and less grippy than the original switch pro controller.

That said, I still do prefer either pro controllers to the joy-cons. My only gripe about the Mario Galaxy games on the switch is that I felt like you needed to use the joy-cons, and I never quite got over how annoying they are to use over a regular controller. I wish they had some way to use the wii controllers on the Switch.

I thought I would use them a lot more than I do (which is to say never).

It's crazy to think that in 3 weeks, the Switch 2 will have been out for a year.

They forgot to implement this into the switch 2

Man this no lie. The battery life of the Switch 2 itself (haven't tried the Pro 2 controller) is absolute garbage. I can get maybe 2 solid hours of gameplay max on a full charge before the Low Battery warning starts flashing. That limits its usefulness on long flights and places where you may have limited charging options.
