Tis the season — or at least the day — for Pokémon, and Nintendo has announced a “Pokémon Direct” for Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 9:00 a.m. EST or 6:00 a.m. PST. It’s only going to be seven minutes long, but seven minutes is a long time to talk about one franchise, and the odds are more than good that we will finally get our first taste of totally new mainline Pokémon titles for Nintendo Switch.

Maybe they can help fix the TCG too

They need to reverse the trend of shitty Pokemon games. It's been downhill since Black/White. X and Y were a big disappointment and Sun/Moon seemed to take the worst elements of X/Y and double down on them.
I don't give a flipping frick about a story or cutscenes in a Pokemon game. Yet that seems to be the main focus of the last 2 games. Red/Blue and Gold/Silver were excellent games despite a lack of a story. All I want to do is set out, catch Pokemon, battle trainers and gyms, beat the Elite 4, complete the Pokedex, build teams to battle with.
I don't give a frick about cutscenes or some stupid arse story.
Not only that but recently Pokemon games have been brutal with the handholding. Basically the NPC characters tell you what to do, where to go, and give you a million items to heal/help your team to the point there is no reason to go into Poke Marts. There is no challenge anymore. I remember playing Pokemon Red/Blue without internet or a guide and I had to figure that shite out by myself.
And "friendly" rivals is just not fun. Go back to rivals that hate you.
I like the series but after Sun/Moon I was hugely disappointed. Sun/Moon was a chore to finish and was just not a fun game at all. I could never see myself replaying it. With the next Pokemon game, they need to go back to the roots of focusing on gameplay instead of other garbage.

I read some Pokemon developer say they have to make Pokemon really easy and handholdy in order to keep kids attention who otherwise would be playing tablet/smartphone games.
I think that is stupid

I don't understand why Pokemon doesn't have difficulty settings, you know, like every other RPG has...

Man I really liked the mechanic of seeing wild Pokémon walking around in Let's Go. But that looks really cool.

Sword and Shield look awesome.
I'm partial to the old way of catching when you walked into the grass and you were surprised with what popped up.
I don't really mind the new way where you see the Pokemon though.

Also looking as if it’s taking place in the UK. Great location. I’m guessing at this point in the series they’re switching between Europe and the US every generation.

Time to go on my Pokemon Blackout.
I avoid any information on the new games and play it without knowing anything. Not even the starters or cover legends. That way everything is a surprise.
No idea how anyone can know everything there is to know about the game - all the new Pokemon, legends, gyms, features, etc.; before buying the game.
I've always done it this way since Gold/Silver. I remember I knew everything about Gold/Silver and it came out and since I had spoiled everything for me ahead of time the game wasn't as memorable for me.
Seeing Alolan Rattata for the first time was mindblowing, as I hadn't spoiled it. I was ultimately let down though because of the low number of Alolan Pokemon, as running into it I thought there would be a lot more. But overall I was hugely let down by Sun/Moon

I only do it because I want to know what team I want to make before playing the game, but I do miss the surprise factor.

Will be the first Pokemon games I've ever purchased.
