I’ll probably still get it. I’m more mad about the lack of response from gamefreak and the fact that they essentially forced me to play the game the way they want me to. If you’re going to delete Pokémon, fine. Just don’t give us a bullshite response like balance issues and act surprised people are mad when you delete everyone’s teams they’ve used for years.

I don’t like the reduced Pokédex at all.

I don’t mind not being able to catch everything in one game, but I’d like to be able to try and get everything in one/two generations on one game cartridge.

100% agree. What they should do is make another game similar to Pokemon Battle Revolution on the Wii (which wasn't developed by GF), where you can store all of your Pokemon and battle with all 1000 of them online in crisp HD and with good battle animations. Because at this point, the story mode of the last few Gens has been so stale, not to mention a complete lack of post game.

After beating Shield, I enjoyed it, but when you compare it to Gens 3-5 which IMO are the cream of the crop of the franchise, it lacks in so many areas. At this point, it's very disappointing since they made some much needed QOL improvements for the meta yet they got rid of so many Pokemon. Really makes zero sense. I will likely skip the next game even if it is a Gen 4 remake, and I can only hope they do what I suggested in the first paragraph. At this point, that's the only thing that would get me back into the franchise, since the story, characters, and writing are all so bland. Such a shame really.

The reviewers are calling it the best Pokémon game yet, but you know how that goes

Yeah, getting paid to say that shite, ala IGN. It's the farthest from the best but still a fun game regardless.

Is there anything more useless than modern gaming journalism? They are basically just paid advertisements at this point.

It’s had the complete opposite affect on me than I’m sure they intended. I rarely buy games when they release anymore and I probably game less than half of what I used to because I got tired of being straight up lied to.

The Destiny hype still pisses me tf off

GameFreak bit off more than they could chew. They probably got halfway into development for this game then they and Nintendo decided to make it a switch game. That would explain a lot of the artwork and things remaining the same.

This seems like it was rushed as hell.

Reading that graphic thoroughly depressed me.

I'll just play Blue on my GBC emulator.

This doesn't happen as much as you want to believe it does.

Why would Nintendo need to pay anyone off for a Pokemon game? Nintendo always gets a pass from reviewers because they're Nintendo. And have you ever heard a Nintendo apologist?

"Game literally has no color. Can't get past the menu screen. It killed my dog.

I'll still get it..."

The last thing Nintendo needs to spend their money on is paying off journalists

Uh... I have never said anywhere that I think this sort of thing happens that often nor do I think it does . However, in this instance I think it's true.

At the beginning of the IGN review, the girl reviewer literally says "This is the best Pokemon game I have ever played, and I have played them all".

Let's see. SwSh is by far the shortest Pokemon game there is (took me 20 hours but 4-5 of those were in the Wild Area/Idle), they added great QoL upgrades (including stuff for the meta) only to cut out 60% of the Pokemon, it is by far the most linear Pokemon game out there, and there is next to no post game at all. Things that were in pretty much every other previous generation were cut out for SwSh.

But yeah, best Pokemon game ever and she's 'played them all' . Yeah, totally not getting paid to say that, especially with how polarizing the E3 announcement of this game was. And for the record, I still enjoyed the game, but it's likely the last mainline Pokemon game I will get unless they can actually bring in writers with a pulse and have a good plot for once. It's GameFreak tho, so not getting my hopes up.

People and their opinions, I swear.

I've seen a lot of love for this game on twitter, so maybe people like it regardless.

There's no doubt it's fun but the whole 'this is the best Pokemon game ever' is bullshite. Idk how many Pokemon games you've played, but after how good the DS games were, everything that came out afterwards has been disappointing. Part of me wishes they stuck with 2D and focused on other aspects of the game instead of emphasizing 3D graphics when they have never done that right.

Look idk about competitive stuff but this was my favorite Pokémon game ever probably. Certainly the best since HGSS. Thoroughly enjoyed.

They don’t even need to bring in writers. Just cut out all of the gimmicky bullshite, don’t cut every starter but keep fricking Togepi, and make the game more like what made it legendary in the first place.

Boom. I’m available as an advisor, Gamefreak.
