They can but it's going to cost them like crazy to get on say a Samsung TV

There are enough resources (Roku, Chromecast, Apple TV) to get the popularity ball rolling. Get it rolling fast enough and Samsung will be a lot more willing to add it to their TVs, especially considering this service doesn't seem to be in direct competition with what Samsung is doing. I think BluRay is a great example of the potential.

Bottom line: If this service does what it says it does, it will be successful.

Time will tell but cable companies aren't going to sit back and let it happen. They will either charge more for data if you cut the cord which will limit this services savings or they will just offer a package that will compete with it.

Competition!

Something sorely lacking at the moment with big cable providers/ISPs.

It's not really competition if they frick you on data caps and pricing just because you cut their cable service though.

Especially for people like me that only have one high speed ISP option.

Hopefully he does as good of a job with it as he did with healthcare

I refuse to fault Sony for this.

I thought something like this was coming after PS Now. I guess it's a natural evolution after they bought Gaikai.

I think it's a little early to try something like this and I don't understand why they're using the PS brand to push it.

No one, but you are looking at the negative impacts of what Sony is doing, when it is only because of the ISPs that a negative can be seen.

No. I am saying that it has huge challenges ahead including, but not limited to, cable controlled ISPs.

No doubt it is facing challenges, but if it ever gets to the point where ISPs are considering the things you previously listed, I would say it has been successful.

I don't think you fully understand what I am getting at but I am not going to take the time to argue about it further.

I completely understand what you are unsuccessfully trying to get at.

ETA: I also wonder what this will do with their partnerships with Netflix, etc as far as having the apps on PS

I'm pretty sure Sony has already started to pull their shows and movies from other services.
